A month later

I was putting on my blazer to go to a client meeting when my boyfriend came into the bedroom from the bathroom. He had this habit of walking around the house in his boxers, which I found endearing at first, but home cooking, a stable relationship, and an almost-understandable lack of exercise meant...I stopped that line of thinking and kissed him, then wished him a good day at work, telling him I'd be home a little later, as I was going to that author talk later in the day. The work day progressed uneventfully and I headed off to a new bookstore that had opened near to my office. One of my favorite authors was speaking there, specifically to discuss his latest novel, a beautifully written story about two men, one older, one younger, and the way they met and their relationship grew.

The book had been something of a scandal, between the age difference and the sex scenes, but that had not stopped it from becoming a bestseller and the author becoming long-listed for many writing awards.

I wandered in and headed to the event space just as the talk was about to begin. As I sat down I smiled at the sheer number of sexy men of all ages here. Fortunately, the lights dimmed and the author began to speak, interrupting my reverie. I was listening to him and thinking about questions I might want to ask during the QA session and if I wanted the author to inscribe the copy I'd brought when I felt someone slide into the seat next to me.

I turned to acknowledge the person when I felt something on my knee. I looked down to see a hand on it, then followed the arm up to a face I had thought I would never see again.

"Hi Daddy," Cami mouthed to me. "I knew you'd be here. I know you don't want anything to do with me, but I wanted to say hi. I'll go back to my friends now."

And Cami did. Sliding out of the seat with the same ease and grace I'd last seen a month or more before.

Since then I'd not heard from Cami nor had I initiated any conversation. I thought I had successfully overcome the temptation of this sexy twink. As I got to the head of the line, I thanked the author for his time and novels and asked him to sign the book. He smiled at me with a practiced smile and did so, moving on to the next in line.

I was out the door to the bookstore when I saw Cami up in front of me, talking with what looked like a couple of similarly dressed friends. I didn't have to walk by them to get to the car and felt relieved when I got to the car and got into the driver's seat.

Shutting the door, my phone buzzed.
