The slow to fade imprint of the sting
The lingering evidence of the lashes
Scraped with asphalt
Ripped by razorwire from a fence
Bit by a dog
Battered after the fight

I like all of this a lot except for the last line which seems unnecessary to me, but just my opinion. The rest of it is really good and flows well.
Of where we've been. But resilience a predictor of where we'll go.
