Click hereI watched it start to gently flow,
barely a trickle ever so slow;
cold and sweet ever curving and winding,
his eyes gazing up ever widening.
I smiled to myself as I mused,
at first he was afraid and confused;
Eyes went up at the first resounding,
He is still amazed and his heart pounding.
The flow is now dripping in this July heat,
falling thru small fingers gripping & onto his feet;
This young boy who felt all alone,
When Mom told him his Dad was gone.
There were days when he had his Mom around,
but she too now was laid in the ground;
For the moment he stood there all alone,
Just me, his mother, & his dripping ice cream cone.
His first fireworks without his Mom and Dad,
his heart broken and tired and sad;
I & his mother will continue to watch from here on,
Now that we are dead and he is on his own.
