Click here"Meghan, it is not that simple."
"Of course not, or marriages would never fail. But according to Shannon you came to Atlanta not knowing the full truth of what happened in your life. Now that you do, go fix it. I will not sit here and watch you screw this up. Look, you are the one who says no matter how big the wall is, someone will get over it. The trick is to make the information on the other side unusable to the wrong people. Well guess what? You are now on the other side of the wall you idiot. Only the information isn't encrypted. It is as plain as day. She loves you, you still love her."
I didn't answer her. I sat silently on the edge of the bed.
"Look Jim, I have to go to work. I happen to have the best boss in the world but I am sure he would rather do what that song says. You know, the song where you hear Julie's voice singing 'Please come to Boston'?"
Meghan hung up before I could respond. After a quick shower I grabbed my laptop and headed into the office. Apparently she had alerted the staff to some of my circumstances. Debbie stood at the door with her arms crossed and tried to be tough.
"You know I am supposed to keep you away from the computer today. Meghan said it was for your own good."
"Call Meghan and ask her how am I going to look for plane tickets if I can't use my computer?"
Debbie started laughing. "Wow, Meghan is good. Here you go. Your flight leaves at three."
Debbie reached over to me and pushed my mouth closed. "Jim, take a chance. It isn't always about security and avoiding risks."
Forty eight hours is such a short time under most circumstances. But for me my life had been altered drastically. Only it felt now that it was just being put back on the right track. I couldn't get my heart rhythm under control and my hands were sweating. If the TSA was supposed to look for suspicious travelers I was for sure going to be stopped. I can't imaging I looked anything but stressed as I walked to the security checkpoint.
For most of the two hour flight I kept asking myself what I was doing. What was I going to say if she answered her door?
Traffic was terrible trying to get out of the airport at five thirty but I managed to pull up in front of my old house in Brecker Park just after seven and knocked on the front door.
Julie froze when she realized it was me. I looked into the eyes that stilled my heart every time I saw them.
"Hi, I saw this home in a magazine and was wondering if I could meet the designer?"
She jumped the last two feet and ended up in my arms crying. Actually we both stood their crying on her front porch for ten minutes just holding each other.
"I can't believe you are here! I have waited every day for you to knock on our front door again." Julie said while she looked into my eyes.
"I can't believe I am here either."
Somehow we made it her couch. She tried to make it clear she was not letting go and I am not sure if she walked with me or I just carried her but she half on my lap wrapped around my neck still.
If all that I was missing was an apology years ago, Julie made up for it. She apologized over and over through a waterfall of tears. Having her in my arms was the same warmth I had felt years ago. She would occasionally reach up and kiss my cheek and then apologize some more.
"I am so sorry I hurt you. I have missed you so much." She whispered before tucking her body back into mine. "Do you know I kept this house so I would always have you with me?"
"Really? I thought it was because of the famous designer who built it."
I attempted that as humor but it just made her cry some more. We were like that for two hours before her phone rang at nine thirty.
"It's Shannon, should I answer it?"
"She will just keep trying so you might as well."
"Hey sis, what's up?" Julie said with a smile for the first time that evening.
"No nothing much. Just sitting here on the couch." She said and put her finger to her lips asking me to be quiet. I couldn't hear Shannon but whatever she said had Julie smiling even bigger.
"No. I sent him an email yesterday and he never emailed me back. No, no text messages either. I don't know. Why don't you ask him yourself?" She laughed and handed me the phone.
"Hello Shannon!"
"Ok very funny. Is that how you two are going to play me? Put the phone on speaker. Now."
I looked at Julie and said, "I think she wants to put it on speaker so she can yell at us."
"Ok Shannon, you are on speaker."
"Good. Now listen to me, both of you. Life can be difficult at times. Actually it can get totally fucked up. But you two have learned that no matter how bad it gets, you can still love someone forever that you hate for the moment. I want you two to figure out how to do the forever's and look past the moments. Does any of that makes sense?"
We just looked at each other and kissed. Of course it made sense. We didn't stop kissing until we heard another voice on the phone.
"And one more thing. Are you still there? Hello." It was Meghan's.
"You two stay on the couch where you belong, don't even think about going upstairs until you are married. Got it?" She started laughing hysterically at her own sense of humor. That is how Meghan is.
"Did you mean what you said and do you still mean it?" Julie looked at me and asked.
"Do I mean what?" I asked with uncertainty in my voice.
"Oh come on Jim! You jerk, you know what she just asked you." Those two comments came from the two people on the phone.
"You once told me that if I had apologized you would have asked me to marry you on the spot. Do we still have a chance?" Julie said with a sudden fear in her eyes.
Our future would be told in the next ten seconds. I stared into her eyes and could not believe we were in each other's arms again.
"Julie I am not letting you go for anything. I am here and I am staying. And I am asking you to marry me."
"Woo Hoo!" Shannon screamed out on the phone.
"Hey. I didn't say yes yet Shannon." Julie smirked into the phone.
"Oh give me a break, we only needed to hear him ask. We already knew your answer."
Everybody laughed as we embraced into another long kiss.
"Hey you two. Shannon and I have to call it a night. You guys are exhausting and some of us have to work tomorrow." Meghan called out.
"Hey sis, one more thing. You better call mom and catch her up to speed. You know what Jim thinks about secrets." Shannon added.
Julie hit the phone to end the call and we went back to kissing each other. By now she was sitting across my lap with her arms around my neck leaning back against the armrest.
"Are you going to do what she said?" I asked.
"Yeah we probably should. It is your stupid rule though if you want to break it."
"What? What rule?" I asked dumfounded.
"You know, the one where she said we couldn't go upstairs and have sex since we weren't married. That stupid rule." And that she said with the smile and eyes I fell in love with long ago.
"I missed that smile." I said as I kissed her nose. "But you know that is not what I meant."
"OK, fine. I will call my mother. Fuddy Duddy."
This was an interesting story. I liked the premise, but there are so many parts that need to be expanded on. The obvious one is Julie’s relationship with her father. You really need to explain his control over her. It is such an integral part of the story, but your explanation is a line or two in a dialogue by Shannon. She was not cheating on him for her pleasure, it was totally something to satisfy father. Also, you really need some kind of closure on dad. He needs his life ruined in a very public way. It needs to be pure humiliation as his public persona is all he cares about.
Well done.. For me I would not trust her. But the way u built the characters it turned out good and happy.. Thank u for sharing ur tale
Idk, I would like to first have a conversation about her relationship with her father, how often and for how long he pimped her out, and how many clients she fucked while "not dating anyone". But if the MC doesn't care, that's his problem.
Meh. Not nearly as interesting as the first. At least the MIL exonerated herself. It is a no brainer that if they couldn't get past each other for 3 years when apart that once he learned the actual truth, he would go back to her. Fine. But how does it ever get to that point after the divorce? Her excuse about not apologizing was nonsensical. And what about Mark? As a reader we are left with no information about how her father got her to screw Mark. Was it the first time with him? Were their other guys? How long was this going on? Was their seduction? What did she think was happening? Did the MIL ever know the truth why she cheated? If she did, wouldn't that be grounds to divorce her asshole husband? What did Shannon know? Why didn't she go to therapy? Seriously. The whole Mark incident got papered over. All we heard from her is that it was not rape and it was what her father wanted. And oh yeah that how does she know he doesn't chest when he travels. You can't even get to first base in reconciliation without knowing the extent of the betrayal, i.e. how long, how many times, who else, would she have kept doing it etc.) Then you get to the bigger things like do you love him, did you enjoy it and most importantly: why? Just an apology cannot be enough. Does the rest get discussed off page? Ok yes his drop the mic exit was lame. Confront! Fight! The kick her to thr curb if you want. I am sure with Matk, her father was trying to force a divorce. Mark was already married with kids. And btw how cab her mother and/or sister not afford yo get a PI? He woukd be found in at most several weeks. Seriously. He didn't get a fake ID or stop using credit cards. He went to Atlanta! I get that after a while they assumed he saw their messages and he did not care and left him alone. But amazed after her parents got divorced over the party incident, that Julie didn't try and then show up at his door in Atlanta or at least send him another email. What he stopped using his old email address? Or blocked them all? I get the new phone number but his email addresses all went kaput? Some real holes in this chapter. Too bad. Missed opportunity.
Um, quite a horror story masquerading as porn. Three women robotically controlled by an inhuman monster that lives on the tears of idiots. Logic itself is bent and twisted in Lovecraftian fashion as the use of email, the postal service, and apologies are deleted from their minds until required by the denouement. No one shows the slightest remorse for Daddy using his girl as a fucktoy to destroy a marriage??? No explanation, nothing, daddy wanted it. It would have been sexy if Daddy had been doing the deed himself but I guess that would have been untoward? Mommy says she's married to an ass. Mommy was married to a criminally abusive madman. But hey, tomato tomahto.
The most horrific mind control of all? I read this whole thing. I have a weakness for this sentimental sadsack-makes-good kink genre. I need a shower. I feel dirty
I'm confused. Did we ever find out she why she was fucking guys Daddy wanted her to?
Good yarn. I would have had the father come to a bad end. But that’s just me
We never find out the circumstances about the first affair other than daddy wanted it. Why did she do it? Why didn't she ever apologize without being prompted? I don't think it's clear that that was her only indiscretion. She is the company whore who goes from meeting a business associate to sleeping with them in a matter of hours?
The pacing of the story was generally good, but the details/answers would have helped smooth sections that felt rushed.
Jim is a dumbass cuckold. He never should have let the ex-wife back into his life.
As for this ending, as the owner of the company he should have fired every employee that meddled in his personal life instead of being bullied into crawling back to his ex.
It seems weird that prostituting his own married daughter wasn't enough to blow up Daddy Morrow's family, and even after trying it a second time, nothing is mentioned about it afterwards, so I can only assume everyone's still together. Their mother knew the dad was a sick fuck, not protecting her daughters from him just sounds like enabling. Good story otherwise.
so, the question of the daughter's prostitution for the father is not addressed at all?
no inquiries into how many times, since when, etc, etc?
not too mention wtf the mother was even still with the pos father after the first blow up?
that and more is left totally unaddressed.
This is more of a "Romance" than LW. It is well written (for a romance) and a good story.
One question is nagging though. How many times "Julie" cheated on "Jim" during their marriage to placate her father? This is not something to gloss over. Doing something like that is not something to get over, the grown-up woman is not 5-year-old to do that repeatedly and expect that is something that does not matter. One time can be overcome but repeated lies and repeated cheating ... I don't think so.
Your story fails to answer that question.
Well two chapters …thousands of words …and mr crap author Lame Peterson has still not answered the basic question….why did Julie cheat with Mark in the first place? Does she fuck everyone whom her father says to fuck? If yes why would this cuck MC want her back?
Mr Lame Crystalball you sure need to read ur own shit before posting it!!!
Hm, ther should be some legal action against the father. Alienation of affection or even prostitution of his own daughter. I don't know all laws in the US, but according to some of the stupid laws there for sex - or better against sex - I'm sure a lawsuit for pimping his daughter would ruin his father reputation.
So she never really apologized. Never really said she broke free from daddy. Never showed she would stop living her secret life. What is the indication she ever changed?
I don't get why so many of the victims in these stories of betrayal keep saying they love their abusers. Is it love, or is it Stockholm Syndrome?
I guess the story was somewhat OK. Not horrible, anyway. But what is the point of a psychological drama if you don't delve into the psychology of it at all?
I am left wondering if any character transformation took place at all, and what I, the reader, was supposed to gain from this.
A story doesn't need to get into what some people call "psycho babble", although I don't personally mind that, but it does have to have deep descriptions of what goes on in the minds of the characters. The story "The Bridge" is a good example of a deep psychological drama without any academic psychology discussions.
Great story! The end was a bit too quick but other than that, well done!
Pay no attention to those who still dwell in mommies basement.
Where is the retribution? Sure, she cheated, but dear hubby took her back. I'd say there needs to be a day of reconing for the father!v
She's still a cheater that fucked another man because daddy wanted her to. Nothing can change that. The MC was well out of it. What became of the alienation of affection lawsuit against her dad. That should have been pushed with all vigour in court as a means of embarrassing her father.
If they wanted to get in touch with him they must know who is lawyer is and certainly the real estate agent could get in touch. As for not reading messages, the message header could say what is needed in a few words that could not be missed, message read or not. Having said that, I wish I had a Julie, or even a Shannon or Meghan!
Would any girl so in love with a guy after years just whore herself out to some guy because daddy said to? I mean her sister refused and nothing happened in the family so why would she think she had to do it? That is not the mentality I want in a wife. No idea why a smart guy like him would take her back ever.
If he did as the story says then one hell of a locked in prenup heavy in his favor needs to be signed.
She still had sex with the guy her daddy told her to. Don't sound like a very good reason to marry her again, even if daddy is out of the picture.
a fun story can be nonsensical and happily ever after can happen no matter how crazy the wife if the author wished it. Our leading man should have watched the "Hot Crazy Matrix" as a youth. Would have saved him a lot of trouble.
To you young single guys, if either her mom or dad are crazy whack jobs, your chances of a good marriage are greatly diminished.
Fun story though.
Story telling is worth following as well.
Personally the guy is a chump. Wife bonks guys for daddy and never even apologised to hubby. Believe he should have outed thecdad for being a pimp, plus giving employees benefits and not reporting them to tax office.
You forgot at the end to actually let us know that daddy dearest is truly out of their lives. Julie never said that she was never contacting daddy again. So can only assume it is a short time tillnshe is spreading them for lawyers again.
Why the heck didnt the doofus get with the sister. At least she had some backbone.
he never gets to the heart of her earlier infidelity. He is in pain for many years, but then falls into a laissez faire relationship with her again waiting for her to apologize. They never have a REAL discussion about what happened, why, how it affected them nor what her motivations were beyond it was what Daddy wanted.
She's still a cheater who isn't sorry for it because daddy "made" her do it
Sis and Mom are enablers
He's a goddamn idiot. Nobody to like here.
However, the dad needs a good burning from jim. I am still reluctant about julie, however due to the mom and girls getting away from asshole dad due to his stupidity, i can see this working. Also the fact that she hasnt even dated anyone in 3 years is quite telling. Worthy of a reconciliation.
The conclusion is a "1". No character development on Julie and why she ruined their lives. I like happy endings, but this one is unsupported.
No, apparently not, as he ends up going back to this toxic and repulsive family over and over again, despite being repeatedly smacked in the face with how vile they are.
The truth is pretty clear that either Julie never really loved him, or she's so psychologically damaged that she's incapable of what a rational person would consider love, and her entire family is a bunch of enablers who were perfectly okay putting up with their sociopathic husband/father in exchange for living the good life.
It's sad that, even after getting away from her twice, he continued to pine over someone with no demonstrated redeeming qualities, rather than finding happiness for himself.
Good plot idea 💡 ! Wretched execution. The (pimp) daddy woulda, coulda been a fantastic villain but the author lacked skills to put him on stage and in spotlight. Imagine 'Silence of Lambs' decrease in quality without Hannibal Lector .
Bottom Line(s) : I understand this is an amateur format but what can't be forgiven is lack of will, skill and intestinal fortitude to let the readers say “ hello 👋 " to the bad guy.
That is all.
I like a happy ending. I have no idea how to explain cheating because her father wanted that, but I think that is nearly, if not completely, pathological, and needs therapy. That's the only thing missing, I think. You wrote a better story than 95 percent of the people who write here are able to write, and 100 percent of those who don't write. My advice, for what it's worth, is to write the story you want to write. If you're happy with it, nothing else matters. I thought it was a 4.50 story. I can't give that score, so I rounded up. Write another one, please, Randi.
The story in the end makes no sense. The sister and wife know Daddy is using Julia as a corporate whore and they are okay with it, think that Julia fucking mark was okay? Julia fucks mark yet doesn't understand why it is bad,is upset only that Jim was hurt? Jim in chapter 1 forgives Julia, but then is fucked by dear old father in law and all he does is run away, despite being humiliated, no revenge despite the fact a)he is a business whiz and b)could inflict a world of damage on dad, hurt his business by publicizing what he did...and then believes julia and shannon so easily after getting fucked over twice? Even if mom divorced mom after the Greg thing, how the hell did she let the dad use Julia like that in the first place, what kind of slag is she? How could Jim trust any of them after round 1? Among other things, Julia never explains why she would act as a corporate whore like that, no therapy, and she continues to hang around dear old dad?
Even with apologies he would need proof she truly hated dear old dad, as it exists dad could once again fuck around..mom,julia and shannon would have needed to destroy dad, make sure he suffered, the way it is written Jim is a chump. I like reconciliation stories, but after this one I feel like Harry VA, Jim should swallow a gallon of bleach for staying around julia and her mom and sis.
Finish the damn story! The villain here was the father-in-law that never suffered any retribution or punishment. His wife yelled at him, big deal. The manipulative asshole needs to have his ass kicked personally and professionally.
Really enjoyed the first chapter, but was hoping for a little more payoff in the second chapter. Did she only do the one guy for her Daddy or were there others? Thought there might be a little more seedy goings on. What happened to Daddy? Did he suffer at all? Set up real well, but hoped for a little more.
Look gang, I remember her lying on their bed letting that fool screw without any participation on her part and also her stupid reply that did it be cause Its what Daddy
wanted it... But from that point on she did everyting correctly without even a hint that he would accept any of it. She deserved getting him back.
I look forward to your next story. But reflect on HDK's comments: you had a huge plot hole (why Julie thought it was acceptable to have sex with Mark and what she thought that would achieve), but did not go back to that hole and account for it. Also, you could have had hubby go on some dates in 3 years and found them unsatisfying.
We should have a contest for the most lazy, cheap, ridiculous plot device. I would nominate Failed/Missed Communication. Someone recently wrote a story where the husband was watching the wife play a video game and he said, "You're so fast!" The overweight wife jumps up and leaves the house, the state, and the marriage. Months or years later the husband finds out the wife thought he said, "You're so fat." This story was just as stupid.
There is just one itsy bitsy little question that has never been answered, and the ancillary questions that any response would engender: Why did his wife think obeying her father was more important than being faithful to her marriage vows? OK, I'm a real nosy type of husband, so forgive me for also wanting a few other questions answered, like: How long had she been fucking Marc? Who else has she fucked, for any reason, since they have been married? Who else besides her father knew she was cheating on her marriage? Did her sisters or her mother also fuck people at her father's request? Why did she prefer lying to her husband and denigrating her self, rather than refuse her father's requests? If you decided keeping your father happy was more important than being a faithful wife and an ethical human being, why did you marry me? Why do you expect me to believe you are not still that weak mindless gutless whore your father controlled and used like a prostitute?
Yeah, I'm sure most husbands would find all those questions pointless, unkind, even a bit judgemental.
Of course, the laziest example of the Failed/Missed Communication plot device is the fact that Julie didn't even have the brains, or the energy, to simply go to her ex husband's work place and announce herself. Shannon indicates she's known where he was for years: "You are in Atlanta now or are you at one of your other locations. I see you have an office in Denver." Oh, right, Shannon just forgot to tell Julie. Makes perfect sense.
Please don't write the sequel where cuckboy catches Julie fucking the pool boy, and the pizza delivery boy, and her chiropractor, because she thought she heard a voice in her head telling her to.
LameChristopher. Yeah, that would be perfect.
Unreal and weak 2nd chapter. Cute in places but this would NEVER have gone like the story. May Not have been a 3 alarm BTB but the weeny reconciliation was too "fairy story" to be enjoyable. So unreal, so lacking in detail, so absolutely without understanding of how a really hurt man would react. I would have believed a diversion, at least with the sister but this was an epic FAIL.
1*
The world conspired to put him back with his cheating, lying wife. Very disappointed you went the reconciliation route. Completely ruined this story.
"But according to Shannon you came to Atlanta not knowing the full truth of what happened in your life." Sure he did. His wife cheated on him. At the behest of her father. She didn't care about the MC's feelings. She never apologized. And her family never did anything about the father.
So the father's opinion of the MC is justified. He's nothing more than a weak beta. But it's this type of crap that makes betas happy, so, whatever. I'll be waiting for the sequel where the dad has the MC tied to a chair, so he can watch his wife gangbang all of his coworkers. I'm sure the MC would end up cumming in his pants watching that.
A guy with that amount of money and his skills would have met some much better prospects than the unapologetic, cheating, father-dominated Julie.
Needs more behind Julia's motivation "yes daddy, I'll let Marc blow my marriage to pieces even though he has nothing going for you except your approval." That line, ;forsaking all others, does actually include everyone, parents and all.
Needs more about the outcome for daddy and Marc, including some blown out kneecaps, or at least some form of retribution. Doug really needed a slap, just for getting in the way, but hey, maybe I'm a little too volatile.
Needs MC to learn to talk to the one person he needs to, rather than walking away, as Meghan said, if it was easy, marriages would never fail. He also needs to find out some more about what Julia needs.
I'm glad it happened over a number of years rather than weeks or months which gave time for wounds to heal and feelings to be cemented.
With a workable resolution.
And anyone who thinks people in the tech industry don't behave like that hasn't worked in that industry.
