"I'm happy you're giving me a second chance," he said, "but I'm not as confident as you are about the next few years. I wonder if I'll ever find out what happened."

Jake was waiting at the prison the next morning. Hillary approached him for a moment and they exchanged a few words, and then she went over to their lawyer and began talking to him.
Jake came over to Sterling, shook his hand, leaned close to him and then spoke softly into his ear.
"You've got some wife!"
"What do you mean?" asked Sterling.
"I mean she came up with the money."
"I know," Sterling said. "She told me I would be safe."
"She already took care of that," Jake said. "I mean she managed to borrow enough money so that --."
He stopped and leaned closer to Sterling and whispered into his ear.
"She literally saved your ass, if you know what I mean."
Jake straightened up again and gave him a wink before continuing.
"I don't know how much she told you about the hood in the prison you're going to. Did she tell you that he knew all about you and was already talking about what he was going to do to you? I was shocked when my snitches told me. I didn't think you'd even register on his radar until he saw you inside.
"Someone had told him all about your case and when you were reporting. I couldn't find out who or why.
"When I told Hillary about this guy and what he was saying, it didn't seem to shake her up, but it must have hit her this week. I think she took out a loan or something.
"What makes you say that?"
"I know how expensive your lawyer is. You probably ran out of money, because first she only gave me money for the safety plan. But last night she called and said something about how you've suffered enough and asked me to pay for the whole deal -- I mean, so nobody touches a hair on your head -- and her lawyer would reimburse me this afternoon. I took care of everything this morning."
"Thanks," said Sterling.
It was time for a few last words with Hillary before he had to walk through the gates. Sterling's mind was racing. He had been thinking about their conversation the night before and had some questions to ask her. His conversation with Jake added a few more.
But the questions could wait until she visited him. Since it was a minimum security facility, she could come several times a week. There was plenty of time for talking later.
He thought of what he should say to her. He had said everything already. He looked her in the eye and said, "I am so sorry about Kali. I wish I could think of a way to make up for what I did."
"Don't think about it," she said as she stroked his hand.
He couldn't let it go.
"You know, it didn't last long," he said. "It was really very short."
"Yes," she said with a sigh, "I know. Only two months and twenty-three days."

Plot twist: he never cheated. It was all a ploy to get her to confess all her shit by wearing a wire. Turns out she was cheating and plotting to humiliate and ruin him.
It just didn’t make any sense to me. It’s like he took all the configuration controls for Reality and changed them randomly, and this is the universe that came out.
weird tale with an ending I didn't find satisfying. needed a more of the fallout and possibly an arrest for the crime.
The REALLY scary part of this story is that he is still married to a sociopathic sadist.
Some of y’all just don’t get it. SHE stole the money. SHE got him thrown in jail. SHE is the one who made sure the sadistic prisoner knew all about him. SHE fully intended to rape and torture him for a week to ‘protect’ him from the consequences SHE had arranged for him in prison. You can argue he deserves it because he cheated, but this is not punishment to fit the crime. This is flat out sadism. The main character is probably better off being raped and tortured in prison than being at home with her.

There's ample documentation that captive prisoners dreaded being placed into the hands of women for their punishment; recorded data of their imaginative cruelty is almost universally available across cultures and continents.
This story ably demonstrates the innate understanding that men have of that fact--if updated to fit modern times and IT. "Hell hath no fury like woman scorned..."--and all that....

Nevertheless, this is an unforced error: "That bit of circumstantial evidence was what got the judge to find him guilty," That would never happen because you can't possibly get beyond a reasonable doubt on something that flimsy. Even if you had a psychotic judge, it would be overturned on appeal, especially because it was tried to a judge and a judge's verdict does get the deference that a jury's verdict would. Even with a jury verdict, though, it would be overturned.
Excellent BTB. The cheating husband earned his sentence; was just for a different "crime". The abusive comments about Hillary make me think that many readers are male and "expect" the women to be the villain. In the story, Sterling was the cheater and Hillary the "victim". Thus, Sterling was the one deserving of getting burned.
Ending wasn't as surprising as it could have been as it was well telegraphed. Call to Jake was just to make Sterling realize that she had changed her mind about having him raped before he made his confession.
A follow-up story might be entertaining.

This story was absolute shit lmao so because he cheated, she somehow hacked into all his company systems and got him arrested but then somehow was able to convince a judge to only give him the exact amount of time he cheated on her with. And he was going to have him raped in there? Sometimes you writers do overkill and it never makes any sense. This story was terrible

Since he's supposedly brilliant he KNOWS she set him up. While he was in jail did she ever see the bullet that hit her between the eyes while he had a perfect alibi? A brilliant man not only figures out what she did and where the money is, but how to get the money and get rid of her. Another badly thought out, unfinished pile of garbage.

I didn’t care much for it. It was purposely convoluted and in my opinion that didn’t serve to make the story any better. It just made it more tedious. And yes, I “got” it, I just didn’t like it.
Certainly a 5 in my book. I loved her and hated her at the same time. I could see this work nicely if he was a latent bisexual, but as it is, it was the scare of a lifetime. Overboard, I don't think so, at least from her point of view.
One thing that stood out, was the belief that she was so much smarter than he was, that should have stuck out like a sore thumb. It should also be noted that he will forever remember how she manipulated him. That will not soon be forgotten, or how far she will go to get her results. That tells another story, doesn't it? Do a DNA check on the kids?
Usually with BTB they don't want to keep the spouse. She has it set up so that she'll get back a man very much like the one that she punished. He'll just be more beta, and he will be afraid of her. Until the day he dies. However, I'm sure she's taken this into account and is willing to accept a more submissive husband. We usually see this the other way around in BTB.
If you can so easily train yourself not to mind rape, maybe such training should be offered to women and sexual assault would go down. Rape is about power, and a victim who doesn't mind wouldn't be satisfying so why attack them? BTW, this paragraph is sarcasm.
Actually Hillary had found out Sterling's affair. In revenge, she wrote the code to steal the money, and framed Sterling up. She even had her affair with Jake, arranged Sterling's cellmate and his period of imprisonment.
That's why she was able to suddenly raise a large sum to buy Sterling's lucky ass from anal assault.

Just wave the magic wand that made him a dumbass in part uno. He finds the code that is stealing money and where it's going to. Because of his connections, he gets info in who opened the account, and his wife goes to jail long time since they can't recover the money for a reduced sentence. She swears it was there. "She" had bought poppy fields in Afghanistan so gets fucked by anti terrorism and drug laws. He gets job back plus divorces her. After she serves her 35, he returns the money to the company anonymously. She finds out in a public library, then starts laughing funny and goes insane and twists her neck off and dies. He takes a shit on her chest. He buys property next to a highway and has the picture put up on a billboard. The end.
Saw the ending coming, but it was still good. Ha, I guess his last minute confession saved his ass, literally...
Another story of yours that prompts a lot of emotional responses from the readers; by definition, effective writing. For the hubby's sake, hope he gets smarter when it's time to bail...
This was over the top for her. He needs to divorce her once he gets out. She also needs to be punished for going overboard in the revenge. Maybe after the divorce and with time they could find it in them to try again with a new beginning. If not another scenario is her gets even by turning her in once he figures out what she did. She is a scary person no guy needs that. Put in another chapter for his revenge on her.

If it was me, when i got out of jail, i would tell her i was going to the store, and that would be the last anyone heard from me. I would be gone, gone.
You don't think he wouldn't figure out she did it and how she did it? Then he would find a way to take all the assets and divorce her? The issue with most of your stories is that they are unfinished. You never seem to get around to the husbands response.
She set him up way before they got married. What an idiot. Oh! He said he was one. He fell for her BS, hook, line and sinker. He needs to start the divorce process in prison and when he gets out, go some place far, far away.
When He gets out of jail divorce her and move on , no job, no assets no loving wife who framed him for life . The sentence of 2 months and 23 days is only jail time. but the effect on his entire future is unrepairable. she does not deserve to be happy with her plans.
So he is serving time for a crime his wife committed. But the first three months of a prisoner's sentence are the worst. He will, in all likelihood, be sodomized repeatedly in prison. She will get her revenge. And he will never, never, never be a man again. By the way, in every prison I have visited to see a friend or family member, visitation is one day, Saturday or Sunday, every other weekend. And new prisoners are not allowed visitors for the first three weeks. So, he probably got 3 or maybe 4 visits from his wife and children during his stay, if he was physically able to report for Visitation Day.
Convoluted, too "smart" for us common folk. And not really that good of a story.
But now you need to write Part 2, as the story is only half told. The wife has promised all will be restored after his release from prison. It is time to show us how that will accomplished. How will he be able to trust her again once all is revealed. How old are
the children and how have they been affected by this revenge? Will they ever be able to respect him again, now that he has been convicted by the court, as well as by their mother. There are still too many unanswered questions to stop here, so please continue.

That's a good story line...just need to work on the twist n turn n the details...

She set him up, now he will never be able to get a job in his career field. He needs to divorce the bitch when he gets out of prison and just file and move on without her.

So the revenge fit the crime. She wanted more at first when she wanted to warm his ass up for prison (I still got it. lol). Nevertheless the time fits the length of the affair. Morale of the story: Don't cheat on someone way more intelligent than you are.

When you've got a sentence that short you're not even put into the prison system... you'll do your time locally... and very little rape takes place in county jails... and anyway he would have been sent to a white collar facility...

How can he not see that he was set up? But his life is over, no matter if his sentence is 2 months or 25 years. As others pointed out, a felony changes everything. Getting him exonerated is not easy and he still has the stigma of a previous charge/conviction.

However this story is not the punctual mirror of Longhorn_07's story, because the cheating wife of Longhorn_07's story was punished for her second cheating. The husband did reconciliation after her first cheating, but the BTB was after her second cheating!

You managed to write around your favorite action so kudos for that. But this is still a wife that has little love and no respect for her husband. She sets him up, steals millions of dollars because, of course, she's smarter than her husband and everyone else. If he was such a smart guy (after all you wrote that he was smarter than everyone at work) he must have realized she did this to him. She TELLS him she did it when she announces at the end she made his prison term the exact number of days he carried on an affair. What more does she need to tell him for him to understand she's behind all this? And the reality is he really had no fear of being raped in a minimum security facility for a white collar criminal. So her threats were pretty meaningless. He needs to figure out where the money went so that when he gets out he can find it and disappear. His wife is flat out crazy and his fear should be of her, not prison. This is like all your other stories. While she hasn't fisted him yet, he never really fights back. He just allows her to do everything and anything. You would think a man on trial would be more proactive with his own defense and planning. Not good. Just your same story, readjusted so people aren't quite so outraged at your treatment of men.
