Click hereShe led me far beyond the realm of light;
Yet still the birds sing songs carefree and gay,
And when I happened ‘pon a wishing well
The freedom that I sought had given way
To something far beyond mere revelation,
Something always known and always hid
Explored in privacy through masturbation.
What happens now one may call “Quo Pro Quid.”
At this point she states a proposition:
I the student of her erudition:
“Others come and go with dereliction,
With you I shall finely reach fruition.”
Her chamber thick with incense and hot musk,
Ensorcelled and enraptured, I give way:
The tutelage that I will glean so well
As welcoming as rosy Dawn’s new day.
A zealot now in this new religion,
A student only too eager to learn,
There’s no damnation, there is no hell fire
Yet if there is then let me, let me burn.
“It’s for freedom from repression that you came
Not for seeking riches, nor for fame
To fan the coals of passion’s brightest flame
But this is just a silly lovers game.”
She leads me to an altar, I succumb
I give myself to her, to her caress
Though trepidation fills my mind, my loins
My actions now are free from all duress:
I take her lips to mine, I feel her breasts
I let her be the man she deigns to be
Then softly (yet enthused) at her behest
I give her what it is she seeks from me
Through an act of simple divination,
There’s no need for further contemplation.
At this point I give a salutation
To this horned beast (to my salvation?).
Two days? Two months? Two years? What matters most
Is not the emptiness that now remains,
For even though I still can feel her ghost
My mind and, yes, my heart, do both refrain
From hating and from missing and from hurt
From cursing and from speaking ill her name
She never took me from my sacred home
So willingly I played this lover’s game.
One of the beautiful things about Latin (and some other foreign languages) is that nouns and verbs are interchangeable, meaning that their placement is irrelevant because the meaning always remains the same.
I've never seen 'Quid Pro Quo' written as 'Quo Pro Quid' before, does it take on a different meaning when used backwards?.
