That put Corbin in a better mood, but soon he felt despondent again, thinking about Jessica and how badly he'd screwed things up between them. All over a silly fight.
He stopped for gas and a bottled water, still drained from earlier. As he paid, he got one last text message from Jessica. He didn't think he could do another picture of her with Mike and Shea, but he glanced at it. It was just a single line of text.

He paid for his gas and water and shot out of there for his car.
On the way, Corbin rehearsed an apology. It was clumsy and long, but it covered everything he wanted to say about how much he cared for Jessica, about how he was an idiot and she was the best part of his life, and how he never wanted to fight with her like this again. By the time he pulled up into her driveway, he said the speech ten times.
He walked up to her front door. When he knocked, Jessica opened it a crack on its chain. They stared at one another and all the words flew out of his head. She was freshly showered and dressed in her oversized flannel pajamas. This was a side of her he rarely got to see, the relaxed, unmade Jessica. He'd never seen anything so beautiful in his entire life.
Jessica closed the door again, and Corbin thought that was it, he'd blown it. Instead, the chain worked and she rushed out. They wrapped their arms around each other. At the same time, he croaked and she whispered, "I'm sorry."
He held her there as they rocked together. She pressed her head to his chest, sniffling, and he kissed the top of it, whispering her name. Finally she pulled back and said, "I made popcorn. Want to watch a movie?"
"Yeah," Corbin said, a slow, genuine smile spreading across his face. "I do."

Might be the worst explosion of a good story Ive ever read in my life. She goes out of her way to maliciously fuck two dudes and takes pictures and he apologized? I understand you might have a cuckold fetish, but God damn this story was so good until this train wreck.
I can't imaging watching the woman I love getting spit roasted to spite me and than apologizing to her, absolutely wack, ruined any credibility of the characters.
And I loved it. I wondered when and if they might ever profess love for each other but their attitudes in this chapter are so real and amusing.
And it's so well written I was grinning throughout.
