The tease went
door to door
without giving out
her number,
she practiced
public speaking
so she wouldn't
give out her number,
but the boys
such nice boys...
it was hard on her
with the way they'd
answer her query
and smile.
ii.
I found your
warm, worn
cruciform,
soddy spread
across my bed.
iii.
Yours is a science
a darling renaissance
of a reticent vowel,
say it out loud
don't mouth it
into your coat or hat,
you know he's bad,
he takes you out
without calling
you back.

You don't need to be
fricassee
I like your tan lines better
and your stock
when your pale as a cucumber
naughty as a clam
v.
The tide's gone out
and your mermaid suit
can't hide you anymore,
you're naked
and market moving
with your man-made
indices
vi.
It took a television show,
full crew, sound man,
executive producers,
a catering service,
for me to tell you―
you can wear my shoes,
if you move in,
I can kiss your bruise
the moment it happens,
you can refuse
the cable service, Internet,
even the Financial Times,
if you move in
and fold your socks with mine.

Really enjoyed this collaboration. Often they come across disjointed, but this blended very nicely. I have one or two suggestions if you are interested, but overall, cool poem. Submit: admit2.com
