flaming red mylar
high in a pine tree
over a suburban house
it will never go away
way out of reach
too tangled in the branches
deflated and limp
endlessly fluttering in the breeze
maybe someone let it go
just as they received it
watched it float up and away
only then realizing its value
now it reveals them
bright eye-catcher, perpetual movement
telling all who pass
this is the house where someone was careless with love
they had joy, excitement, and romance
but they let it go
now just look at what's left
