Click here"That is so funny to read this. I haven't done this in so long," I said.
"Really?" Nathan asked with interest, "You don't wanna know what people think of you? I'd be dead curious."
"Well, we used to be curious. It's nice to know what they think of the music, but personal stuff like that, no it's weird. Those are nice comments but you don't wanna read negative things about yourself, it just brings you down."
"Let me tell you, on this board, everyone loves you," he told me, scrolling down the internet page again, "Oh, there you go! Found one," he said, as Rob had asked him if anyone had uploaded a video of "Princess of China" with Rihanna yet.
"Now, this! I wanna watch!" I exclaimed.
I sat behind Rob and watched it with him and then we read a few of the comments.
What an incredible performance! And I'm sure everyone noticed their onstage chemistry, but did anyone notice how Rihanna owned that moment?? Their hands were intertwined and then Robbie goes to pull away and it's as if she says, "I didn't give you permission to leave.." and pulls him back. Then she slides her hand across his neck in what I can only describe as one of the most intimate-looking moments I've ever seen on stage. They're obviously not a couple, yet it somehow comes off so natural and effortless that you can't help but think that it might be real. I wouldn't be surprised if even HE thought that there was something going on. That's the real tension, the real genius of it... I'm always fascinated by the magnetism of true entertainers. Great song and chemistry from both of them! He actually made me believe that he wasn't gay and into her! :)
Rob laughed. "Oh please, it wasn't that hot! She didn't kiss me!"
"Are you kidding, it was fucking hot!" Nathan screamed and said, "Listen to this!" as he started reading another comment out loud.
That duet with Rihanna was out of this world, it was like sex on stage! FUCKING PHENOMENAL! Ho...ly...shit.....THE PURE PERFECTION!!!!! Their chemistry fucked me up. It was on point! They were so into it DAMN! The amount of emotion at the end was just killer! Fuck me if the Robbie Myers and Rihanna's stare down is not the sexiest thing you've ever seen! The way she pulled him back gave me chills. I know they were only acting but if he can be this sexual with a woman, can you imagine what it must be like when he has sex with a guy!"
Nathan laughed and told Rob that he'd love to write an answer to that last comment.
Rob laughed. "Don't you dare!" he exclaimed and made him promise not to.
We soon found a video of "Up and Up" as well as "One". For me, it was amazing to watch it again, although this time, it was Rob's turn to feel self-conscious and he couldn't really bring himself to watch it without cringing. I wasn't sure why because he had been great, honestly, but I knew that just as me he had high standards, and since this wasn't planned, it felt like it had been too improvised.
Then, we read the comments together, which I had to admit, was something I was starting to really enjoy for once.
It was so obvious that Robbie and the rest of the band were not expecting this at all. I can't imagine how he felt doing this with Bono but, my God, I was excited and nervous for him. The Boss was 100% charisma, but Robbie held his own, you could tell he was nervous as hell but he did great! Seriously he sounded so freaking amazing. This was legendary. Multiple orgasms, the father and the son. Amazing show guys <3
Robbie Myers grew up as an artist having every U2 song on his lips. You could not see anyone more humble than this guy! And he is huuuge!! If you ever have the chance to see a U-N-I concert like the one I saw last night, you should not miss it for the love of God. Robbie is giving his soul on the stage. This, and the fact that he is monstrously talented, add to the fame U-N-I already built by selling record numbers of albums. U-N-I is simply younger than U2, and all I can hope is for them to have plenty of years ahead. If that is so, with U2 and U-N-I, we should be FINE. Thank you Bono for coming on stage and sing with Robbie! What a feast for us!
That must have been a dream come true for Robbie. This was the greatest thing ever. I loved the nervousness he showed. It indicates just how much he respects getting to do this with Bono. There's famous and then there is U2's level of fame, he respects him so much.
"Shit," Rob laughed. "It was so obvious that I was dead nervous, wasn't it? I tried to play it cool but that was just too much."
"You did great! You couldn't have sung it better," I reassured him. "From where I was standing, you both sounded amazing, I mean the end - you harmonized perfectly. Look everyone loved it!"
"Yeah, I'll probably remember this for the rest of my life. It just -- worked!" he said with a small shrug.
"It was fucking perfect!" Nathan added, staring at Rob admiratively.
He hung out with us a little while longer, but we eventually asked him to leave, which he did in the late afternoon.
We spent the next three months promoting the album and getting ready for the tour. We woke up every morning eager to see what the day would bring. It was a very exciting time again, but it was also a bit frightening. We were aware that life still had many twists and turns in store for us and I could only hope that we were ready to face them together, considering how crazy our lives seemed to have become. We were twenty-four, out to the world, and part of one of the biggest bands in the business. We had the best job in the world. We were rich, beautiful, admired and talented. It was awesome but it came with a lot of pressure and responsibilities. We would have to learn how to handle them.
These two are not true soulmates if they are so eager and willing to share each other’s intimate gifts with absolute strangers. The risks and dangers of picking up a random fan and trusting them not to cause future trouble or embarrassment is colossally stupid. And this cocky Nathan was annoyingly talkative and overly-familiar and it ruined this chapter IMO. I will never understand how you could watch your soulmate suck, rim, fuck, etc another person and be aroused by that. I guess others feel differently but this illustrates a very unstable foundation in this relationship and proves they need to seek others to fulfill some gap they don’t have with each other. Mark’s illogical encouragement of Damien is also unreal. The lax way they entertain sexual interactions with others will lead to trouble. There is also NO way they would discuss personal business like Damien and Mark’s illegitimacy in front of Nathan. I hope this type of thing stops and the focus on music and their love stays center.
Love your comments. So cool to read comments from someone who's been in the music industry and who enjoys that part of the story! Imagining the gig was really what made me want to write it. Writing this chapter was so entertaining, I have the gig's playlist on my ipod lol
Nailed it with the description of the gig, never been to the joke that was the "Millennium Dome" but been to and involved in more than enough gigs to know EXACTLY what that energy is like. Trust me when you're on-stage and everybody in the crowd sings back to the band it hits you like a frigging tidal wave!! The after gig moment was spot-on too with the band needing some time without partners, friends, roadies, management etc. etc. many need that before a gig as well (been on door guarding duties to make sure they got it!).
Trouble is even at the first read I could feel that there was trouble brewing just around the corner.
Seriously excellent writing! Could almost feel the crowd and hear them sing along with UNI. Loved it!!!! 😃
And yes, I'm sooo ready for some drama 😇😈
