Alandrios' Stone Ch. 04

Lincoln's POV

"So Alandrios escaped with one stone out of a bunch and he was hunted down for three years?"

"Actually it was six and that's why it's specifically his stone." Chloe said pointing at the giant book on the desk.

"Well technically it's not his stone since he stole it." I added.

"I think that's enough history for now, we should take a shower and get dressed." Chloe said as she took off her red top and walked into the bathroom.

I looked outside to see if any soldiers had followed us to the city. I saw nobody that stood out.

After about six minutes, Chloe got out the shower with her towel and I got in the bathroom right after her.

I took my shower and got dressed in a dark blue loose fitting shirt and brown cargo pants with black hiking boots.

I saw a note on the side of Chloe's bed with a note that read she was taking a walk in the city.

I decided to do the same.

As I walked through the busy streets of the city I couldn't help but notice the amazing sights and smells.

I shuffled around a few people as I called Chloe.

"Hey uh Chloe, where are you?"

"I'm around th- Oh shit."

Her phone went silent until I heard motorcycles speeding by and gunfire through the phone.

As I put my phone back in my pocket I heard screams to my right.

I immediately ducked behind cover as I heard a huge crash and repeated gunfire.

It had to have been the APC that almost killed us in the rainforest. I ducked behind shops and marketplaces to provide cover.

I rolled from cover to cover back towards the hotel. The APC kept crashing through the shops and tables as I made my towards the room.

I ran up the stairs, my ears ringing from the bullets rushing into the building.

I grabbed my backpack and holstered my gun on my waist.

I opened the window and jumped down into the rental hoping to find Chloe. I sped downwards into the streets only to be followed by the APC.

I sped downhill practically crashing into everything in sight.

I saw three motorcycles speeding the marketplace I was currently crashing through. I sped up and rammed the two motorcycles chasing Chloe.

She went faster and made a quick right into a nearby alleyway. I tried calling her name, but I guess she didn't hear me.

My hands gripped so tightly on the steering wheel I was sure they were bruised.

I had realized the APC had stopped following me so I slowed down and I tried to focus on the motorcycle sounds.

Chloe was fast on a motorcycle, I saw her speeding away from the APC that lost track of me, but she was already on the highway.

I made my way downwards off-road and spun onto the highway at top speed wondering how I'd stop the giant god-damned tank designed to rip us apart.

I drove next to the APC attempting to scream over top the unnecessarily loud gunfire that Chloe was dodging.

"Chloe!"

She somehow heard me and turned her head, her hair whipping over her face in the wind.

"Holy shit, Lincoln! How did you-"

"We don't have time to talk, Chloe!" I shouted hoping the Jeep didn't slow down.

"Hop on!" We both shouted at the same time.

"I'm not jumping on that motorcycle!"

"I'm faster stop arguing!" Chloe screamed outstretching her hand.

I reached out until I heard a loud pop and I lost control of the Jeep.

The APC crashed into the side of the Jeep with the loud sound of crashing metal.

The Jeep flipped over and before I hit my head I heard Chloe scream.

I awoke with a pounding headache as the smell of smoke filled my nostrils.

I rolled on my stomach and crawled out of the now flaming Jeep.

Thankfully, Chloe came out of nowhere on her motorcycle.

"Get on!"

I immediately grabbed her hand and hopped on the back holding on to her shoulders for dear life, my head still spinning from the crash.

"Take this and don't stop shooting!" Chloe said as she handed me an Uzi. I saw that the APC hadn't stopped following us so I aimed back and squeezed the trigger as hard as possible.

The APC was smoking and slowing down fortunately.

Chloe drove through the downtown construction areas, while I watched the APC crash into everything and whoever was driving was most definitely injured.

The bullets in the APC had stopped firing at us while I used the last few bullets to get rid of it for good.

"Hold on!" Chloe shouted before sliding under a crane as the APC crashed and exploded behind us.

"Oh man that was close." Chloe said panting.

I couldn't help but laugh at how close we were to being burned alive by the explosion.

"What's so funny?" Chloe asked with a smirk on her face.

"Let's get the hell out of here."

"Noted" Chloe backed the motorcycle up and drove away from the flaming tank.

"Do you think Alandrios had to survive being chased by a tank mounted with a minigun?" I asked trying to break the silence.

Chloe laughed at that as she pulled into the parking lot of a motel that wasn't filled with bullet holes.

Chloe's POV

As I stepped into the motel I couldn't help but think of my duffel bags I left at the hotel in the city.

"Hey Lincoln, maybe we should go back to the hotel in the city for my stuff a little later."

He didn't respond so I turned around and saw that he had the door open.

In a split second Lincoln was shot and fell to the ground. The man holding the gun had blood running down his face, his clothes and skin were burned.

He looked like a zombie the way his jet black hair stuck to his forehead, his eyes bloodshot.

"The gun. On your belt. Drop it." The bleeding man groaned at me.

I decided to do as he said because the only thing going through my mind was whether or not Lincoln was still alive.

Before the man could respond he fell to the right clutching his side.

I immediately put pressure on the bullet wound in Lincoln's abdomen.

He was still breathing. Thank goodness. I jumped up and ran to the bathroom to get towels in order to patch the wound.

I grabbed a towel until I felt cold metal pressing against the back of my head.

"On the group. Now" I heard a woman with a strong Russian accent tell me.

I turned around slowly as I saw the nearly six foot woman aiming her revolver at me.

I dropped to my knees and felt a thud on my forehead.
