"Mostly, yeah."
"And you're sure he will hire a weak little white girl with baggage?"
"Hell yeah he will. You want me to set up an interview with him?"
"Umm, ok."
"And I am guessing you can start immediately?"
"Uhh... yeah?" she laughed.
"Ok, you're hired."
"You don't even have to ask him?"
"I am him, mami," he laughed. "Come on. Welcome to Gustavo's. I will show you around before we open in a couple hours. Be ready for a huge crowd, we are always packed on game day. Think you can keep up?"
Elle smiled at him as he pulled her in the back door and he grinned and pushed her into the wall, kissing her. He chuckled.
"Is it bad I was understanding why that pendejo stole you and kept you for himself? Not that I ever would have... but I fucking understood it! Fuck you had me stressed. You could have told me you wanted to tell him to fuck off."
"I... didn't know I did. I've been so confused about everything, but when I saw him, I was so mad! He could have stopped Wynter any time he wanted! He didn't. He wouldn't. I wasn't worth the effort. You, though... I was no one to you and you helped me for no other reason but it was the right thing to do. And you kept me safe, and you told Wynter to fuck off. And he did. You helped me. But that's not all of it either. I feel safe with you, yeah... but... you are also more. Everything with you... it all feels right. You feel like home. The home I was meant to find. And that's nuts because... you are kind of terrifying. But I'm not afraid of you. You would never hurt me or let anyone else hurt me, or anyone in your family. And... you... you are so freaking hot and I just... can't stop thinking about how much I want you. How much I love your kiss and your arms and your hands. Your smile, your laugh, the way you make me feel so freaking happy and... content. And safe. Everything. You are all of those. You are... my home."
His smile grew and grew as she spoke and he looked down at her, inordinately pleased. "I like that, mami. I want to be your home. You gave your fake name to Lorenzo, so I am guessing you are ditching it?"
"Yeah?"
"So, you should probably just be Elle Alvidrez. I mean, not quite a fake name, but close enough. No one with fuck with you or look for you, or..."
"Yes. Gustavo. Yes. That name suits me fine. Just... one condition."
"Yeah?" he asked, his eyes sparkling.
"You put soundproofing on the walls and stuff... or something."
He laughed and hugged her close. "Aye, mami. Yeah, I can do that. Abuela will still hear everything."
Elle giggled into his chest and he laughed, holding her against him. She was finally content and happy.
After everything she went through, she was going to get her happily ever after.
Wynter watched Elle get out of the car and go into the restaurant with the thug, smiling at him and his blood went cold. When Cris had called him, he had assumed he was lying at first, but the information was true. As soon as Cris had described him, he knew who it was and had come to look over the restaurant the guy owned. They had shown up moments later.
Wynter sat back and looked over the restaurant again.
It would burn easily enough, the real trick would be burning it with him in it and not her. He would have to make plans.
"Drive out to the address Cris gave me, pick him up," he said to Ricky.
They pulled away and Wynter made plans.
I do not know how I missed this series. Was just alerted to it with the third one, which I am about to read now. I have binged the first two and I love them. Well done, Gab, well freaking done!
Dangit, I very much enjoy your writing and I am working my way through everything you have posted, but I really need to start reading the endings first, so that I don't wind up frustrated when a story ends without a conclusion!
Still... a pouting,grumbling 5 stars.
Holy hell, this was great writing. I can’t wait to see your next installment.
