"I'll just take the couch," I said firmly, and she dropped all pretense.

"Oh, for fuck's sake, Stefan, will you just go to her?" All the seductiveness she had used in her voice the past few days was completely gone. "Otherwise I'm gonna kick you out and you can sleep on the street. Don't get me wrong, you fighting this is admirable. But now's not the time. We both know you want this too. Now get the fuck in there."

I was stunned for a moment, words failing me utterly. Then I stood and walked to the guest room, my mind roiling with my clashing emotions. I knocked on the door, and entered when there was no answer. The room was dark, and Brie was sitting on the bed with her legs forming an M shape in front of her.
