I know it's quite an old story and probably you won't read my comment, yet I felt compelled to comment. I like the story, but the 1st few paragraphs were repeated multiple times ag the start of the story. It wasn't tedious, confusing and repetitive to read. But other than that, I enjoyed reading this story.

Troy telling his friend about his Mom being in Playboy was a D-bag move and s betrayal of her trust. Really a bit of a downer, for me anyway.

In all honesty, I had the same question as you when I first submitted this; mainly, because what the characters are doing isn't inherently taboo because they're not blood-related. I wondered about whether this should go on an Erotic Couplings or any other similar genre. However, I felt that this genre would have the best audience for a story like this.
Truth is, if I put it in another category, I think most readers wouldn't appreciate it as much because it's simply not what they're into, whether it be a step parent or a real parent, it doesn't matter, I think for most readers that enjoy the Incest Category is an attractant because of the inherent potential sexual nature of a relationship with an older parent figure. It's kinda why I focused on the whole nurturing and caring aspect for Lindsey, and how her obsession with becoming a good mother drove her into nurturing for Troy in every aspect, including his sexual desires.
So that's why I chose this category for the story; because I feel like the audience here would appreciate the narrative more... rather than putting it in another category based on a technicality. It's also one of the reasons why I tried to make Lindsey's and Troy's relationship more about what it means to be a mother and son, rather than unnaturally try to make her blood related to him. I liked that the characters started off distant and slowly got closer and closer.
Truth is, this is Erotic Literature, so I'm not making too many demands on reality or realistic depictions, just what excites me and hopefully the audience.

Just this, incest is and has been taboo allover the world because of the danger of inbreeding.
That is of course why incest among close relations, ie mother, son & father, daughter is illegal almost everywhere.
With sexual relations between stepmother and stepson there is no danger of inbreeding hence no taboo!.
So why would you place your story in the incest/taboo category???
Why not select one of the many other categories here at the Lit ?
Or if you do want to use this cat, why not have a real mom in the story, instead of a stepmom?????
