It just happened, “ the one time” . No, it happened over and over again every time she had sex with her husband and thought of Stan. Plus it happened again every time she or her husband got together with these friends. Liked this one. Perhaps one of the best examples of CindyTV's work. I have been married for 34 years, and if something like this happened, I would conclude I never really knew her and seek divorce too. Thank God it's fiction! Some more drama about the other wives' marriages would have been helpful. Perhaps a series of short sequels built around each marriage? I'm not even certain that a wife that engaged in such talk COULD 'make it up' to a husband who heard that recording. Because, at the very least, it would lead to many questions that would not reflects well on their attitudes toward fidelity. Me...... if Roger or one of the other husbands, I would have deep thoughts about that marriage.
Married women talk too, and sometimes raunchily so, but usually there would be a context which would supply explanation such as humor, irony, satire, etc. Or maybe just alcohol-driven fantasy banter. Absent that, such speech would definitely invite severe doubt and interrogation from a spouse. My wife tells me (without asking) about her coterie conversations (except for tight confidences), and we get good laughs, because we are all good friends.
She often uses it to poke fun at me when it highlights my flaws, and I listen because it keeps me thoughtful. Sometimes her friends remark on such changes, and I'm happy to oblige. We all do thoughtless things without realizing, and don't want to do it if it hurts your loving partner. We have two jobs and the marriage one comes first. It's what happens when spouses are partners and not chattel. Anything not 'normal' should be a matter of concensus, like open-marriage, etc. If it's consensual, neither should object.

The question not answered was did Laura think about Stan while she was having sex with her new husband? That was her most damaging statement.
I've come back to reread this and favourite it. It is a story that has stayed with me, one that I've often thought about.

He gave her a chance. She condemned herself with her reaction to his hypothetical affair. Not all people can forgive a one time tryst. Especially not one with such horrific after effects that she kept reliving her time with Stan. Thatbis just grotesque. Yikes.
Fir me this one is a 5 for the writing and the thought that went into it. I've not been in this situation, but the emotions seem plausible. Also, what was going on inside people's heads is much more interesting to me than the usual clinical depictions of what was going on between their legs.
I enjoyed the irony arising from the fact that Laura would be totally unforgiving when she thought the Bob had strayed, yet would expect, even demand, forgiveness when she found out that Bob had the goods on her.
I liked that part but the fact that things went from hunky-dory for 20 years to right over the cliff seemed a bit abrupt. Here we're suddenly faced with heartless a bitch (unforgiving, heaped on top of the betrayal of "when Bob is fucking me I'm thinking of Stan," broadcast the her girlfriends no less -- the larger betrayal, IMO). Maybe some thoughts on Bob's part, back to when examples of this heartless one-sidedness became apparent in retrospect, would have been useful to bridge this gap.
Finally, I must admit to a bit of jealousy here. This story has generated more comments than my entire output. Achieving that sort of connection with your audience is awesome. Brava!
Great story. I started feeling bad for Laura towards the end, but I probably would have done the same thing. She lost everything she valued, destroyed by her own words. 5 stars.

This time thru the thought occurred that Laura could have been a suicide risk as her life was destroyed bit by bit. Husband gone; kids distant; friends gone; lifestyle radically reduced. Story didn’t mention her getting counseling help……

But I expected more anger from him when she started making the same excuses that he had tried with her using his made up story of cheating. I would have like to see he throw her words right back at her and then kick her to the curb like she threatened to do to him. It did eventually come out, but in what appeared to be a very cool, calm manner. I was looking to feel more rage at her BS hypocricy.
Surprised the other marriages survived, especially Scott and Emily. What she said about he rone time fling was incredibly devastating. And her own vitriol ended up having he hang herself. Ironically woman often up thr ante when gossiping in a game of one ups(wo)manship. Whiel her statement about the best sex ever is bad enough, her statement that her husband's c$ck can't get her off but thinking of Stan's does while her husband is trying to make love to, is just an absolute father to the heart.
7.15.24.read this tale several times. Good story very good ending. He was correct in divorcing Laura. He could never trust her again. Life would be miserable and she’d resent the short lease he would need. Best option shed her.

I know it's needed for the story, but her going to Stan's place was stupid. You MIGHT be able to chalk up the BJ to "it just happened." though the swallowing when she didn't for her husband was low,but she had time to think about going to Stan's apartment.

Why didn't Laura connect with Stan? They both were basically tossed to the side and had only each other and as written they loved the sex with each other, Pool their resources, have great sex, see what happens. Why would they both just whine and suffer?

The three keystones of a relationship are honesty, transparency, and communication. It took me a similar path to recognize what is, indeed, important. Hopefully, it appears that the author, herself, worked out some of her pain and anguish by sharing the same. Five stars despite minor inconsistencies. Life's a learning curve, no?
