Sometimes the things get over-analyzed. I think the contrast between the sentiments expressed and the rainbow hues work well together.

but I also wonder about the vivid flamboyancy of the colors when the poem seems to express subtle and private emotions. Perhaps it serves as some contrast or comparison?
