I assumed that my wife loved me and only me. Wrong assumption number one.
When our vows said, "To death do us part," I assumed that my wife believed that wholeheartedly. Wrong assumption number two.
I assumed that when we said that our wedding rings signified our unending love for each other that my wife thought so too. Wrong assumption number three.
I assumed that when my wife said she was going to the gym that she went to the gym. Wrong assumption number four.
I assumed that when my wife said she was working late on an important project that she would be at the office. Wrong assumption number five.
I assumed that when my wife said she was going to be away with her work on a 'team building' weekend that she would be team building with her colleagues. Wrong assumption number six.
And the one that really broke my heart, I assumed that our three children were mine. Wrong assumption number seven.
As I said earlier I think I'm a typical male. I like sports, I like beer and I love my wife. We have been married for almost twelve years after going steady for a little over three years. Fifteen years I've known and loved that woman. I assumed many things that most men would take for granted. That was a mistake.
I will explain all of that soon but first a little about my wife and I. She is a tall, athletically built blonde who has just turned thirty-five. With her toned body and beautiful face she could pass for ten years younger. In fact we went to a bar not long ago and the barman asked to see her I.D. She was thrilled.
I am only slightly taller than her, standing at an even 6'. I am broad shouldered and look like a person who works with my hands. I do, but only at the weekends. I am a computer security analyst. I run my own business from home and work with businesses that need computer security. I work with small firms mainly but I am getting a reputation around town that I know what I'm doing.
All the assumptions I made began to crash and burn when my wife's boss called me at work one Friday. They needed to see if their network was as secure as they thought it was. I asked why he picked me and his reply was interesting. He said that he didn't trust some of the people in his company and suspected them of industrial espionage.
He ran a small electronics firm who were in the running for a major defence contract. If it came to fruition he stood to make a lot of money. I believed him when he said that his network security was the key to the whole thing.
I asked him about the conflict of interest with my wife working there and he simply said that a few people might be burned if his suspicions proved correct. I must admit his reply made me wonder whether my wife was under suspicion.
I decided to take the job and went straight to work. My wife was travelling for work that weekend so I knew that I could work without fear of interruption. The kids were spending the weekend at my wife's parents place, as they usually did if she was away overnight as I often worked late. They loved it and so did their grandparents.
I knew a few of my wife's colleagues and believed I had enough knowledge of them to find a way into the system rather easily. Most people don't take network security seriously and I expected that this firm was no exception.
I decided to try with my wife's immediate superior simply because he was the one I knew best. She had worked at this firm since before we were married. So had he so it was logical that I knew him also.
I didn't much like him so I figured if I could embarrass him with his lax security then I could have a little fun along the way. He always seemed a little too 'familiar' with my wife. Whenever I mentioned it my wife told me I was being silly and that they were old friends who had worked together for a long time.
Using a basic knowledge of their networking system I knew that if I could log into the system via a senior person then I could infiltrate the whole thing. As I expected it didn't take too long to find his password and user name. I didn't even need to use my encryption software for that. So I needed to decide what to get into first.
I decided on his company email. That was easy so I challenged myself to find any personal email addresses he might have. Talk about stupid. He had emailed himself from two different personal accounts to his work email. He had obviously worked from home and emailed it to his work so he could collect it when he was in the office.
As I expected there were many work emails to and from my wife. He was an executive officer and she was his executive assistant. I looked at a few and got bored quite easily as they were all work related. I decided to look at his personal emails.
The first address I looked at was a winner. It was a Hotmail account that was set up under a false name. It showed emails to and from a major competitor of his firm. This proved to me that there was something going on here.
I was also able to take a peek into his bank accounts because he had emailed those details to his spymasters. That was shock number two. He had a private Cayman Island bank account with millions in it. Wow - jackpot.
I copied as much as I thought necessary and prepared a package that I would show his boss on the Monday.
Many of his contact with his spymasters included references to a third party, a woman. It was obvious what he had planned. He was going to sell secrets to a rival company, make a quick fortune and ride off into the sunset with his woman on his arm.
His emails gave great detail about when and where he had met with the people who were paying him. The one thing I noticed was that it had been going on for many years. The earliest emails I found that referenced his illegal activities were from seventeen years ago. No wonder this business was still quite small. It had some great ideas but nothing seemed to come from them. But finally the boss was doing something about it by hiring me. I'm certain he had a few ideas that this was going on but the stakes had gotten much higher with the Department of Defence involved.
I catalogued the most damning emails and made a timeline to see when these things were at their peak. I'm sure the boss would see some sort of pattern. As I looked closely at these dates I noticed that quite a few referred to times my wife was away on team building exercises with the company, as well as times that she was away overnight.
My stomach tightened. I decided I was being paranoid. But to be sure I looked at my diary and cross-checked the dates in the emails with my wife's schedule. Many either directly matched or were around the time my wife was both busy at work and staying late or times she was travelling for her job. The tight feeling in my stomach worsened.
I had circumstantial evidence that my wife was involved but nothing concrete. I decided to check cell phone records. Once again my target made it easy for me. He still used the number that he got with his original phone. This meant that I could access all of his billing and call details from the last seventeen years, coincidentally the time he got his first cell.
And what interesting reading they made. Cross-checking dates and times with those in the emails I found a pattern. He rang the same number often around the dates mentioned. My heart sank. It was my wife's number.
Still, it was circumstantial. She was his assistant so naturally there would be calls between them. But while he averaged one or two calls per week, around the dates in the emails the calls rose exponentially, to as much as five or six calls per day.
I needed a break. I went to the kitchen and made a coffee. I had a million thoughts going through my head. What was going on here? Did my wife's boss know something or were they merely suspicions? Did he deliberately choose me for this for any particular reason? I was really getting worried about what I would find when I delved deeper into this mess.
After about half an hour I knew I couldn't put it off any longer. I decided to go for the other private email address. This would let me know one way or another.
I hacked back into the system and opened the second private email address. The first thing I noticed was that there were thousands of emails. He'd had this address for many years and it seemed like he never deleted anything.
The second thing I noticed was that the emails were almost exclusively to the same person - my wife. My heart sank even deeper. While still circumstantial it was beginning to look bleak.
I took a deep breath and thought about a strategy. I decided to start from the earliest email and go from there.
The first email was dated about seventeen years ago. It was quite personal and described how he had enjoyed the sex that they'd had. Note that this was a couple of years before I had even met my wife.
By reading the emails it seemed that their affair was quite intense. He was married at the time but as I kept reading he divorced around the time my wife and I met.
What surprised me was that the affair continued after we met. She slept with him right through our courting and engagement. I remember she would see me at the weekends. We always had great sex. But it seemed she was having great sex during the week too.
I read an interesting string of emails around the time I asked my wife to marry me. She told him and he asked her what she wanted to do. He explained to her that he didn't want to commit to a second marriage but still wanted to see her. Her reply was chilling. She said that she would marry me and make sure that she would still see him.
As our wedding approached it seems that their affair became even more intense. In the week before she practically lived with him. She even fucked him on the morning of our wedding.
I was heartbroken. This was the woman I loved. My assumptions were wrong. She didn't love me at all but used me. I have no idea why. She had a perfectly good arrangement with him. Why bring a husband into it?
Reading on through their emails I found out why. She wanted his children but knew that he wouldn't marry her. One line from an email simply shattered me.
"Lover, I want your children. I'll make sure when I'm the most fertile I won't fuck him but only you. When I'm pregnant I'll fuck him a few times. He'll never know. And our children can have a stable home with the typical mom, dad and kids."
Tears rolled down my face. It seemed that I had been played for a fool for most of my adult life. I determined that I would get a DNA test on the kids just to confirm what I'd just read. That would have to wait because I needed to find out more.
I read emails from the time our first child was conceived. She had written to him that she was definitely pregnant and she hadn't has vaginal sex with me for about a month. I remember that there was plenty of sex but it usually ended in a blowjob or hand job. Then it became really intense fucking for a few weeks. Then she revealed she was pregnant.
I thought that my child arrived a couple of weeks early but according to these emails she was right on time.
Horrified, I went to the time our second child was conceived. The same thing happened. And with the third it was the same too. Each time I thought they were born a couple of weeks early. I remember my wife saying that she had read somewhere that some women were like that; their babies were early each time but completely healthy.
I just accepted that. I assumed that she knew what she was talking about. All three of our kids were spitting images of their mother. They had her dark hair and facial features. She had an oval shaped face and our three daughters had exactly the same shaped face. Our friends always joked about the fact that they looked nothing like me. Now I knew why.
I spent the rest of the night cataloguing their affair. It seemed that it was still going on. In fact she was away with him this very weekend. It was going to make me a very happy man to reveal all I knew to their boss, as well as the authorities, on the Monday morning.
It seemed that her numerous visits to the gym weren't always that. Sure she went often but judging by the email correspondence I had discovered it was less than half the time I thought it was.
The same with her 'late meetings.' It seemed that none of these ever happened. In fact I read one email from very early in her career that showed that her boss didn't believe in out of hours meetings. She had fabricated the whole thing.
I slept all day Saturday and spent the Sunday making sure I had all the evidence lined up for a meeting with their boss on Monday morning.
I was heartbroken but determined to go through with my job and let the cards fall wherever they did. I realised that my wife and her lover had broken many laws with their industrial espionage and with the Defence Department involved it would be a Federal case.
My wife wasn't due home from her weekend of work until the Monday so I didn't have to confront her before I revealed all to her boss. Thank goodness for that because I have no idea what I was going to do.
When I arrived her boss saw my face and ushered me into his office. Before I spoke he said, "I'm sorry, but I think I knew that she was involved. I knew you would be thorough especially when you found out what I'd always suspected."
I looked at him and said, "My kids aren't even mine."
He looked at me and said, "I'm really sorry. I had no idea."
"They have been together since before we were married and just didn't stop. They've been ripping you off for a while too. Every time you were close to getting a plum government contract they conspired with your rivals to cheat you out of it. They have offshore accounts and are ready to go. When they stuff this contract for you they are planning to quit and live a life of luxury. One thing you need to do first is get the Feds to talk to their bank and freeze their assets.
He said then that he knew something was going on and just needed the proof. He had already spoken to the Feds and they were ready to pounce. He called his contact and said that he had the evidence they needed.
The Feds arrived thirty minutes later. I took that time to show him the depth of their deception. When the Feds arrived I showed them what I'd found too. Their cyber team would be able to access all of this for themselves so they were satisfied that they could move in and arrest them both.
My wife and her lover arrived that afternoon as expected. Unfortunately for them they were not arriving to any fanfare but to the waiting arms of the Feds who arrested them on the spot.
When they were confronted with the evidence they fell apart. They suddenly realised that their carefully laid plans had gone up in smoke.
I confronted my wife. "Just tell me one thing. Did you love me at all or was I just a convenient parent figure for your children?"
She wouldn't look at me so I continued, "I hope it was worth it. You do realise that because Federal Government contracts were involved that it is treated as spying? There's mandatory life sentences for that, you do realise that don't you? That means the rest of your life in jail. And guess what? Your kids will never see you again. I love them all as if they were my own and because of that they will never see their mother again."
She collapsed at that. I just walked away.
EPILOGUE
Sure enough, there was enough evidence to show that the two of them had manipulated contracts of over dozen cases. They were found guilty on all counts and were sentenced to consecutive life sentences for them all. They were whisked off to Federal prison. I attended every day of their court cases. That was the last time I ever saw her. I filed for divorce and was granted sole custody of the kids. They sort of understood what had happened and never saw their mother again. I learned to never assume.

As offered by others, you laid the ground work for a quality story but seemed to just bunch it suddenly. Also you initially described your wife as a blonde before you later described your daughters as splitting images of their mother with her dark hair... 3 stars.
I've read a couple LW stories where the wife has basically cuckolded the husband for the entire marriage. It's really quite disturbing that someone could do that to someone. It takes a special kind of twisted psycho as far as I'm concerned.
Did he just get paid for the job or did he get a reward for the millions he found? Missing some details and it ended too quickly.
This could have been so much more. We needed some response from the wife.

I don't these comments about it's stupid or he's stupid and dumb for not realizing but as i said, loving, trusting and happy...love is blind when 1 spouse is chillingly deceptive. It was amazing how you said the wife really went to all that trouble to have her lovers children and make it seem that it was his.
I wouldn't of got a divorce, I would of gone for an annulment instead, also sued for back pay for 'his' kids, keep them emotionally but get the lovers money for essentially knowing he was raising his kids.

All tied up in a neat package. A good plot, five stars, but would have been so much better if there were actual conversations and character development with at least the main character. His 'wife' and her lover would have helped as well.
One cold blooded bitch, that's for sure. And the lover was a little odd, letting his lover have relations with the other man (her husband). That's weird, why didn't he tell her to get over the desire to have his kids and just remain lovers. In essence she was cuckolding her lover with her husband. After all the lover was the first one on the scene.
Your story and s well written but. Gave it 2 stars because I would try for an annulment in court first as the marriage was a fraud. If that did not work then file divorce, plenty of evidence for adultery starting with 3 kids.
I would also sue her boss for back child support and to have my name replaced with his on the birth certificates as well as severe all contact with the children. Let her parents raise them.
It was completely unrealistic and great fun! I think I might have enjoyed it even more the second time.
It was fun, but not realistic that the boss would hire the husband to investigate the wife. Even with the motivation of finding the cheating, he would have gone to someone else. Plus, if I were the husband, I would want a signed contract with the boss in my office or I was potentially committing a crime. That said, it was fun!

I understand where you were going, I do. I think you have lots available here but I just don't feel anything with it. It really feels like a case file or outline or something like that. There is not enough color or feeling. Where does he throw-up? Where does he see her smile in the morning after they wake up - but now wonders what she was smiling about? Where is the memory of some strange point that he "allowed" himself to forget. Believe me cheaters always leave them. Where is there any sense of remorse from her in the emails, unless she is a total sociopath there would be, and if she was a sociopath she would not show any concern about the children in the end. That might have been an more fulfilling twist, perhaps she was a mole or complete sociopath.
But it ended with no real finish. It's like you told half the story then

If his wife even MIGHT be under suspicion, hiring her husband to do the security check is ludicrous! Unless, as we saw here, she was betraying HIM, his inclination would be to protect her, not reveal her wrong-doings.
I’ll bet the boss either knows or suspects the affair and this is his way of alerting him to it. I guess I was right, I didn’t even think of the idea that knowledge of the affair would incentify him to work harder on the case!
I agree with him keeping the kids - he may not be their biological father, but he's the only father they've ever known, and they've been as close to him as any natural child would.

Well written, but the author should have referred to the "big boss" as owner or something else. I had to stop a few times to decipher whether boss was being used to describe her boss or her boss's boss.
i know its a story but 17 years an he did not have any idea his wife was cheating on him. I find that part unbelievable , I can see him taking the kids emotionally and loving him as the real and only father they knew. so with a life sentence he has no problems going forward. I wonder what his fee was in all this. he should have been well rewarded. for a tech guy how did she get away with blatant cheating..

I had an interesting experience at a neighborhood barbecue about 4 summers back. Our neighbors 3 doors up on the opposite side of the street seemed like a great couple. They had three kids, ages 9, 7 and 4. All had some resemblance to the wife, but none to hubby. In a conversation late in the day, after folks were pretty well oiled up, another neighbor talking to us and this above couple said with some slur in her voice, "Mary, your kids are all just gorgeous! They all look just like you and some blond Nordic God....who's the father?"
Mary blanched and paled. It was dealt silent for a moment,then Mary started to stutter and froth. David (a tall, swarthy, but handsome man) interrupted her burbling and said, "Yeah, honey, who's the father? Why not include the details?" He gave her a murderous look that thoroughly squelched any response, said, "Don't go away, stay right here," and stomped off into the night...towards home.
Mary had started crying and collapsed right there. That got a lot of attention and several gals got her up and took her into the house to calm her. About 20 minutes later we heard rubber burning as (apparently) David's car peeled out of the drive and up the street into the rest of his life....apparently, he'd had suspicions for a very, very long time, but had foolishly never acted on them.
Someone else at that party was very disturbed. She and her husband fussed about for a few minutes, separating themselves from the group and engaged in an obviously tense dialog, then left a short while after Mary's collapse. Later it came out that wifey knew of Mary's "situation", and had remained silent within the circle of friends and neighbors.
As you might guess, David and Mary divorced. David sued for paternity tests and it was proven the children all belonged to the same man....not David. The court held that since he'd raised them as his own for so long, he knew and accepted her cuckolding and granted Mary full support and separate maintenance.
Guess what? David evaporated after beating her lover to death and Mary and her three bastard children were forced to go live with her mother. True story.
Oh, the other couple divorced. It seems he no longer trusted and couldn't live with a woman that would keep something that far-reaching to herself. He believed that she'd fucked around, although was never able to prove it. They didn't have children yet, but for him the blush was well off the rose. I don't know any more detail, but apparently, she got nothing in the settlement. Also a true story.
You really don't need to go very far or dig very deep to get material of the highest caliber to write about. I say that with tongue in cheek.
And, as they say, the best fiction has roots in reality.
Keep trying. Your writing is technically very good...you just need to work on the storyline and do frequent reality checks. If you ask us to believe something that goes beyond the normal realities of life, you have an obligation to provide a device, a vehicle to make that something acceptable or even believable. Fail to do that and you get people calling bullshit, or otherwise criticizing your story.
Keep trying. If you are willing to learn from the feedback, you'll likely hit on something that will win hearts and enliven minds and libidos to your great elation.
It takes a big man to raise children he knows aren't his. However he had them from birth so they are his children, emotionally and spiritually. Fucking worthless cheating wife and mother of these children got what she deserved. Her jerkoff lover also.

You unloaded the conclusion on us up front, and that sort of ruined it. There was, as others have said, a good build up, everyone knew what was coming so it wasn't that interesting.
Regardless of the DNA they're his kids. They're innocent. Now it's his chance to go out and find someone who'll love him and his kids.
One last thing. I'm just a big enough prick to want to send mom pictures of the kids as they grow up. I'd want to send her the pictures at Disney World, Hawaii, Paris, Venice, the Bahamas, scuba diving, Nashville, skiing, and all kinds of other outdoors things she'd never get to do inside prison. It would be even more fun to send her any pictures of the second wife on the honeymoon. I'd want that honeymoon to be some place the miserable wench had always wanted to visit. Ha ha you missed it! Maybe when you get out when you're seventy!
No suspense. One of my children from my first marriage may not be mine. I will never DNA test......she is mine regardless. She says her mother is a slut whore and she is proud to be like her father. She hates cheaters.
... but like too many others, lots of setup with a quick ending... need to work on properly completing the story.

Just because guys don't want to read stories about wife sharing, cucking, or watching 8 guys do your wife doesn't mean that this story is bad.
It was short, not enough depth, and no personality or interaction from the wife.

It's funny. Javmor recently made a comment on another story, where he described how the Loving Wives rating system works. It was a brilliant observation, and serves as an incredibly accurate predictive model.
Here we have a "story" where all the action takes place "off-screen". We're told that the main character's wife has been a serial cheater for more than a decade, without drawing any suspicion whatsoever from hubby. Her personality, character and motivations are never divulged to the reader, so to us, she's nothing but a faceless, cardboard cutout. In fact, she doesn't even merit a single line of dialog in the entire piece.
The husband, as usual in these stories, is a righteous and heroic individual who possesses some superpower (in this case, hacking) that allows him to discover his cheating wife's shocking infidelity. The reader is forced to suspend his disbelief a number of times as one irrational plot device after another is revealed. This woman purposely had three children with her lover? Why? Is she a sadist? A Nazi? Satan himself, disguised as a secretary? This is left to the reader's imagination.
None of this matters, though, because according to the Javmor formula, this story will receive a high rating because the cheating wife ends up imprisoned in the end. That is the one and only criteria that LW readers apply. True to form, this little one-pager that is filled with so many gaping plot holes is sporting a respectable 3.85 rating.

why, when the husband discovered how he had been deceived, and he had the account number in the Caymans, didn't he just transfer the money to another (his) account and leave the cheaters to fend for themselves?
Instead, he watches as his wife and her lover are arrested, her (not his) children are sent into foster care, and he goes back into his mundane job, sans wife, and children, without enough income to maintain the household expenses, and the subject of a massive whisper campaign regarding his culpability in her felonious behaviour.
This was a good story, but seemed a little rushed at the end. I don't think that you had to draw it out into more chapters, but you could have given us some insights into the wife's character and thinking. Why marry him at all? Why carry on the charade for so many years? Did she care for the husband at all? There were a lot of unanswered questions. The answers to these questions would have made the story stronger. Thanks for the story; it was entertaining as far as it went.
Seems impossible that she could have pulled off a loving wife and mother routine for what, 15 years? She could have had her lovers children as a single mother, so the ploy of marrying this guy just for a meal ticket seems far fetched. Not saying such women could not exist, but the husband had to be incredibly dense, and the marriage unbelievably shallow, for this to work. And her relationship with her kids? Pretty much unexplored in your story. I so see a sequel where the kids visit her and sperm donor in prison, telling her that she no longer exists in their lives or their memories. And showing both her and sperm donor their recent tattoos, marking them as their fathers children. He of course will also have had their names tatooed over his heart. Bitch and sperm donor are allowed to wallow in their dispair, and their remaining life in prison as punks and bitches for the alpha inmates. Sweet.

It is a good premise and plot. But so much more could be written. You could have written 3 to 5 chapters and made an interesting tale and still have a good BTB ending. So the story is too short.
Also you continually misspelled "Defense" and had other errors. The premise if having sex at fertile times with lover and "withholding" from hubby then fuck his brains out when she has a fetus in her is plausible. Since he raised the kids, and they considered him their daddy, they were his, if not biologically. I agree with KarenE, the sentencing would not be right for industrial espionage. Do your research. But please keep writing and submitting good cheating wife getting caught stories.

I did enjoy reading it but felt a lack of human contact and dialogue. Certainly he was there to deliver the kids and is as connected to them as far as possible, so it was not surprising that he wanted to finish the job. The surprise to me is that the kids took the loss of their mother well.

With a couple together more than 12 years and 3 children. Embezzlement ,industrial sabotage , cheating and denial of children. Wow the drama could have filled dozen of pages and multiple chapters. We cannot judge what doesn't occur ! So 3*s.

Nice little story Goo; I would have liked it more had there been more interaction between husband and wife upon her return. Why did she do this to him? A little more explanation would have been helpful. Also, the BTB factor was just a blip. Both she and her lover deserved more written pain or embarrassment.

Parenting is about nurturing day to day; the scraped knees, teaching to ride a bike, birthdays, holidays, vacations, little league, and a lot more. The sentence for government contracting fraud is generally two years in federal prison and a financially debilitating fine (often in the millions of dollars). Trust me. It's part of my job description to know this.
As far as the story goes, adding a little bit more intrigue would have made it more fun to read. A good start might have been to put the list of the protagonist's wrong assumptions at the end of the story and make them his conclusions about his relationship. And to make it more erotic, maybe have the protagonist read some correspondence between the two lovers that describes great sex between the two.
All in all I think it was a pretty decent story concept. Being sort of a spy story, it could have been told with a little more intrigue. Maybe add some interaction between the wife and the husband that shows her trying to cover up what she is doing.
In other words , lame. Characters both good and bad drive a story or the whole deal is moribund. That is all.
It seems like virtually all of these stories that end up with a true cuckolding, that is unknowingly raising another man's child or children, the guy wants and keeps custody, without any angst or real thought. While noble, in reality I would think that would be a hard thing to do. Raising children is a hard job. I assume that he's around 35, still young enough for a full life, and the former wife has living parents. He'll spend vast amounts of his time dealing with those girls, and will have little time to devote to rebuilding his own life, let alone experiencing the real possibility that their very presence will only remind him of what's been done to him. A really, really good man might do that and do it well, but I doubt that very many would given these circumstances.
A little too quick and easy. The plot was very interesting but the execution failed. Writer should have drawn it out a little. The story was such a blur that I didn't have a chance to feel what he felt. I would be interested in a rewrite of this story if the author chose that. In the rewrite I have a few suggestions.
I suggest that we hear a little bit about the marriage before the discovery so that we can take the journey with the husband. What is their relationship like? What is it like with the kids? Does she act loving or is she just cold to him?
Then a few examples of her ambiguous interactions with her boss that could be interpreted either way would add a little tension. Did they dance a little too closely? Did they talk a little too familiarly? Maybe we can hear about the husband questioning her about it and she telling him that he is being paranoid. I'm sure that they had an argument or two about it.
Then a little bit more of a confrontation with the wife instead of him yelling two sentences to her. Maybe we can hear her explanation of why she screwed him over. Is she sorry? Does she feel bad or is she just a sociopath? What about her relationship with her kids? What does she feel about that?
Like I said, this story could have been a lot better. Not a fun read as it is though.

Not proof positive without the DNA test, but pretty definite.
I am far from an expert, but I think you MAY be exaggerating a bit on the sentencing.
First of all, while Defense contracts are involved, unless they are selling info to foreign governments it is "only" corporate espionage and wouldn't fall under the kinds of statutes that you are thinking of.
Second, even traditional espionage doesn't ALWAYS bring a life sentence.
BTW, I DO agree that he should keep the kids. He loves them, and he is the only father they know.

I even agreed with the choice of the jilted husband in accepting responsibility for children that he had raised, but were not his. Just because the wife and the lover are lower than pond scum on the evolutionary scale doesn't mean that the children should suffer. Besides, the author never specifically said that the kids were in fact not his. All the author said was that a DNA test would be one of his next steps, but it was never revealed if the kids were his or the lover. If you choose to believe that the kids are the result of the affair then that is your choice. If you don't, then that is your choice as well.
