"Oh man, I am done for," Mark muttered.
"What?" Kate asked.
"I'm never going to have better sex than this. You are the ultimate, Kate." Mark brought his head up and planted a kiss on her reddening cheek.
"Mark," she said. "That's so sweet, but I think it's just the afterglow talking." Mark sighed and shook his head.
"I don't think so. You're it, Katie," Mark said. He lowered his head again and collapsed on top of her.
She wrapped her arms around her newly minted boyfriend and sighed contentedly. Kate found that she agreed with him. Mark was it for her. She felt a little silly for taking so long to realize it and for wasting so much time with Ryder but managed to push those feelings aside. That journey made her who she was.
Mark's journey without her made him who he was. And who knows, perhaps it was those separate journeys that made them both realize that this was the ultimate for each of them. That they were it. Mark would keep Kate forever, and Kate would keep Mark. They were it.
