Click here"So you're the little miss that led Jimmy here to adopt that scraggly old cat. I about died of shock when he offered. My daughter thanks you though, she threw a hissy fit of her own when I told her it had to go. Is this curmudgeon treating you right?"
She found she liked him almost instantly. It was a reminder that men did exist whose life goal was not to have a slave girl at their beck and call. She assured him she was being well treated and after giving him an update on the cat's antics to pass on to his daughter she stood out of the way while the two men hooked an old pick up to the SUV and hauled it out of the ditch.
There didn't appear to be any damage and after thanking their rescuer and turning down his offer to follow them the rest of the way home the two were soon back on the road. The busy day had worn her out and she soon was asleep with her head leaning against the window.
When he pulled into the garage he reluctantly shook her gently and woke her enough to lead her into the house where he helped her slip out of her jeans and tucked her into bed. He called his friend to report their safe arrival and was met with a warning lecture on how a real gentleman was to treat "his girl". Concluding his discussion he sat watching her sleep and wondered if he would ever be able to safely share with her how much she was coming to mean to him and if he ever could possibly give her everything she deserved.
This has got to be the most emotionally involved story I have read in awhile that has such a realistic standpoint. There's so much human truth here, whether there be much actual occurrences or more fictional imagery I can't really figure out. Thank you for sharing such an amazing story, I look forward to seeing how it progresses.
Thanks for the positive comments! I am inclined to think individuals who mark down a story based simply on the category are not worth worrying about. And to the two individuals who sent me anonymous angry emails bemoaning my delay you should be relieved to know I am well into the next chapter and will be posting it soon. Again if anyone catches any mistakes or has feedback on how to improve the story please do share!
Do you think the nasty Anonies stay up late at night just spreading their snarky BS? How sad their lives must be. Malls are stressful and overwhelming for many of us; I'm impressed with her resiliency.
