Click here"Hello?" he called out as he entered. "Anyone here? I'm Josh Sanders, I got a message to come by today after 5:00."
Josh milled about the store's showroom floor momentarily, glancing at the sparkling pieces of jewelry adorning the cases as he waited for someone. He decided that he'd give it five minutes before heading out. Seeing a stack of business cards on the case near him, he accidentally knocked them over as he inspected them, spilling them over the glass surface.
"Careful, they go everywhere," came a sweet, feminine voice.
Startled, Josh spun around, finding himself face to face with a woman he could have sworn he'd only imagined. Quite tall, merely a couple of inches shorter than him, with lightly tan skin and the most captivating brown hair he had ever seen, Josh couldn't even find the words to speak. She wore a charcoal business suit and skirt, rather than her signature sky-blue bikini, and her hair was tied up in a bun, but Josh would recognize those legs anywhere. Still, it took him a full thirty seconds before he managed to stammer out a single word.
"B-Becky?!"
"More humid here, but fewer tornadoes than in Kansas. All in all, a fair trade, don't you think?"
Continuing to try and grasp the situation, he asked, "Wha... what are you doing here?!"
Giggling, she replied, "You didn't read the front of the business card, did you?"
Pulling it out of his pocket, Josh read the front of the card, noticing some small print at the bottom.
Rebecca Juarez, Manager
"Holy shit. Does that mean?"
"I'm here, Josh. For good," she finished.
"How?"
"Well, when I returned from vacation, my boss informed me that I had learned enough for him to recommend me as a manager of a jewelry business of my own, be it at Shane Company or another jeweler. At first, it was just a fleeting hope, but I mentioned that I've always wanted to move to Atlanta and plant my roots there. He understood, saying he'd help keep an eye out for potential openings, and soon enough, the manager of this store retired! I put in for it, my boss wrote me a sparkling recommendation, and the rest is history! I moved in last weekend and just started full time yesterday."
"You... are unreal," Josh marveled.
"I'll say. You aren't easy to track down, mister. All I had to go on was that you worked for the Georgia Tech Research Institute. Good thing there's only one of those, right?"
"Got that right..."
"Now then, I believe we have some unfinished business Jo-"
Before she could finish, Josh took her firmly in his arms and planted the most passionate kiss he had ever given on her lips. He poured everything he had into his kiss, gratitude for her cross-country move, excitement at the possibilities their future together held, and regret for not kissing her in this way when last they had been together. Finally he retreated, savoring her labored breathing and flushed face as he opened his eyes.
"I love you, Rebecca Juarez."
"I love you too, Josh Sanders," she replied with a grin. Sauntering over to the entrance, she locked the deadbolt and turned back towards Josh. "Time for you to experience the perks of dating the manager of Shane Company."
"Perks?"
Nodding, she continued, "Namely, I have full authority to switch off the security tapes anytime I want. Now then," she said, bending over a nearby display case, "take off your pants, and give me that perfect cock of yours."
Josh only hesitated for a moment, wondering if an employee who had forgotten a purse or something might catch them. This didn't stop him for long, though, not with the girl of his dreams bent over before him. Tossing his pants off, Josh thought of the phrase that had apparently become the motto for his new self.
Fuck it. Just go with it.

I didn't think about this the 1st time I read this story, buuut since they were in Mexico - couldn't you have forgone the whole making bacon for breakfast trope and gone with chorizo instead?

Well done, I echo the sentiments that it belonged in the romance category, but still enjoyed. Was sad that it ended when it did. Would love a continuation to Becky and Josh.
Could you go into a bit more detail about how you came to that conclusion? Because I just don't see it. About 1/3 of the way through page one, it says that "almost all the guys that typically approached [Rebecca] were ... tall, good-looking, [and] total assholes that cared nothing about the brain beneath her pretty face. ... [M]ost of the men there ... appeared to be cut from the same cloth. All except for one, however." This is a pretty clear indication that she wants someone who values her brain, not a typical thought from a gold-digger. In the next paragraph, she sees his face "showing a glimmer his true personality...." Again, not something a gold-digger usually cares about. In the following paragraph: "... [Josh is] certainly not the typical manly-man with rugged good looks, [but] Rebecca found herself attracted to him nonetheless." And in the paragraph after that, she thinks that Josh "really looks like a nice guy... awkward, but honest." All of this comes well before the halfway point of the first page; indeed, it comes in the first five paragraphs in which Rebecca appears. Then, just before the POV switches back to Josh, she promises Derek that she won't hurt Josh. According to my scroll bar, I'm not yet halfway through page one. Try it again, and pay a bit more attention this time.
I am a fan of your other stories and just happened to notice this one on your list. Great romance, even if its in the EC category. I was a bit disappointed when it seemed like it was just going to be a "summer fling" and all but applauded when it ended the way it did. One nitpick, does Becky have black hair or brown? Both were mentioned in the story. 5*

By way of feedback, just two observations. First, running into his best friend in a bar in another city was unrealistic. I think you could've finessed that a little, by having him know that Derek would be in also be in town for a gig and and looking him up, or they're having been there together sometime in the past, etc. I also thought Becky's immediate interest in him, based only on a minute's observation, was also a bit of a stretch, but I think that could've been managed by just adjusting that seen a little.
Again, nice job.
I did consider putting the story in the Romance category, but I felt it would get better exposure in Erotic Couplings, particularly for a contest. It nearly worked, too; I think I placed 4th or 5th in the Summer Lovin' Contest... not that I wrote it for that purpose. I had the inspiration for a romance like this, and the contest got me thinking that Cancun would be the perfect setting for the story.
Dude, you wrote a true Romance, which is the category I love. I was just lucky enough to find it in a Top List and took a chance, as EC category is not a favorite for me. Please write another Romance (one guy, one girl and love for each other). and put it in Romance category. 5*
I forgot to add a short paragraph explaining that Carlos is also a well-known hustler in beach volleyball, and beating two Americans would usually be child's play for him, but for the fact that Derek was just a good as him and Josh could his own. Sorry that I missed that before submitting; I'll fix that on an edit. As for the non-refundable hotel reservations, Josh basically had to eat the cost of that, though I think he'd agree that it was money well spent.
but I could not believe the super macho Carlos, the local with a bad reputation, who was 86ed after starting a bar brawl, would agree to a beach volleyball match to defend his honour and prove his manliness.

I liked the details - they made it easy to form a picture.
