Click hereSamatha then stopped replaying the recording. I laughed. "You were perfect. What happened next?"
Samantha was laughing as well. "I walked out of the restaurant, so I don't know what was said in the restaurant. I removed my blonde wig and kind of stood in the shadows, but Lisa came storming out of the restaurant moments later. George followed her. She was yelling at him that he was a bastard and she never wanted to see him again. He was pleading that he didn't know who that woman was. The same kind of crap that you hear cheaters say when they get caught."
"Wow. Absolutely perfect." I said.
Samantha asked, "What are you going to do now?"
"Well, since you so kindly gave me Thursday off, I have booked a hotel room for Thursday. I just don't want to deal with Lisa at home. She is getting served in the late afternoon, so that gives me the day to pack up all my clothes and anything else that is important to me. The hotel is close, so I can carry it all over there and hopefully will be out of the apartment before Lisa gets home. I am then also going to transfer half of our savings over to my separate account."
"Then I am going to take one of the pictures of the two of them with me and go to Jane's dental office and try and grab her as she leaves. Ask her to grab a coffee with me and then have a sad talk with her." I said sadly. "I'm not looking forward to that part, but she needs to know."
"What about tonight with Lisa?" Samantha enquired.
"Well, I'm sure she will be a mess, but what is she going to tell me that she broke up with her cheating boyfriend? My guess is that she will say it has been a bad day and avoid me."
=======
That evening, I tried to be as normal as possible. I was making dinner when Lisa came home. I wasn't sure what to expect, but she was all over me with affection. I thought that she would be a mess based on what happened with George and Samantha, but I guess in the afternoon, she must have decided that she needed to make sure that our relationship was solid.
I asked, "What happened to you today?"
"Well, it has been over a week since we made love and I thought that we could make up for it tonight." Then she laid a passionate kiss on my lips."
I thought about it for a minute. If she happened to pick up an STD from George, well I would already have gotten it, and since Lisa was on the pill, she shouldn't get pregnant, so why not?
I remember reading a story about a guy who had sex with his wife after finding out that she was cheating and that to him, it was just about using her like a cheap prostitute. That's what I did. We fucked. We fucked a lot. I got off multiple times. She evidently got off. Deed done.
Lisa got up Thursday morning to go to work. She woke me up with a blow job. She had never done that before. I added getting an STD check just in case to my list for the week. She gave me a nice kiss and a hug before she left.
I knew her day was going to go to shit. I started packing.
I had an early check-in scheduled for the hotel, so started taking things over. I had the hotel booked through the weekend. I had some of the things separated so my Dad could drive over and pick them up since I wouldn't need them in the short term. All in all, my stuff fit in two suitcases and 5 boxes. Everything was moved over to the hotel before Lisa was served, so I was right on schedule.
I got a text from my lawyer that Lisa was served. I left my phone on because I was curious as to how desperate she was going to be to reach me. First, there were 5 phone calls in a row, each with a message pleading with me that she hadn't cheated. Then there were the text messages.
The only response I gave was texting her 5 pictures taken from the videos of her with George. No text. Just the pictures. All messages stopped.
When the lawyer texted me that Lisa had been served, I headed the 3 blocks to the dental clinic. I wanted to get to Jane since I was sure that she would rush to be with Lisa as I was sure that Lisa would call her and that Lisa wouldn't have told her what she and George had been doing.
I got there just in time. Jane was leaving the building.
"Jane!" I yelled.
"You bastard. Leave me alone." She yelled back. Yep, Lisa had gotten to her.
"Before you go to Lisa, we just need to talk. Give me 5 minutes." I pleaded with her.
She screamed at me, "What the fuck would you need to say to me that I would care anything about?"
I stated. "She was cheating."
Bewildered, she said, "What?"
I tried to keep my voice neutral. This was going to hurt her. "She cheated" I paused "with George."
I saw her start to crumble. "Are you sure?"
I nodded Yes. "Here, let's grab a coffee and I will tell you what I know."
We sat down in the coffee shop, and I went over what I discovered and the video that I had. I skipped over the Samantha piece for the moment. I showed her the pictures I had with me. She didn't want to see the video. She started to cry, and I held her.
The fallout was huge. Lisa wanted to get away from George, so didn't contest the divorce. She immediately requested a transfer to a different city, so she wasn't in the same office with George anymore. She moved out of town by the end of the following week. I was then able to move back into the apartment.
Jane kicked George out of her apartment, and he tried to fight the divorce. He showed up drunk several times at their apartment banging on the door, begging to see Jane. Jane didn't feel safe and once I moved back to my apartment, she moved in with me. I slept on my sofa bed so she could sleep in my bedroom. George eventually gave up and gave her the divorce.
Lisa had filed a harassment grievance against George with their company's HR department. With the additional rumors about George's "women" after that public scene at the restaurant, George decided to move out of town as well and start over. He found another company that would hire him.
I didn't really care about the reason why they cheated. The excuses didn't matter to me. Jane, however, in one of the meetings with George did ask.
It started a year earlier. Since George was initially interested in Lisa back in college, they decided that they should see what they might have missed.
Since they worked together, there was no need for secret phones or text messages. They saw each other at work, and on Tuesdays, they just used work messaging to say if it was all clear for George to come up. Jane is a neat freak, so they figured she might notice something if they cheated at his place.
They had planned to keep it going until we had savings for the houses and were ready to start families. But, of course, you can't trust cheaters on their word.
=======
Three years later
=======
Jane and I were unpacking. We both got 50 percent of the house savings in the divorces and with the additional savings that we accumulated over the last 3 years, we had enough for the house and the baby in Jane's belly.
Jane and I both had gone to counseling after the divorces were finalized. Separately and eventually together to sort out the end of our marriages. Eventually, I moved from the sofa bed back to the bedroom as Jane and I became a couple. Ignoring George and Lisa, we did have a lot of good history together. We had discussed marriage eventually, but the surprise in her belly pushed us to cross that line and tie the knot.
The house we bought is close to Samantha's. Her oldest daughter is old enough, so we have a babysitter for those nights that we decide to see Samantha act at her little theater. However, we know all about her best-ever performance.
We don't know what has happened to Lisa and George, not that we have ever given them a moment of thought. Frankly, we don't care. We just have a happy future as a family to look forward to.
I thought it was pretty good, but a little dry. I think a confrontation may have played a little better, even if you did it in a style similar to a conversation.
Have just the right amount of everything needed, no unnecessary bloat.
Enjoyed the story. Thanks for creating and sharing it.
I liked it. I don't like comments from Mr or Ms Anonymous there's no credibility in what they write.
Don’t like stories that end with…I don’t know what happened to her….sloppy writing, in my opinion.
Don't really buy the we just did it to try out what could have been. Nor do I particularly buy the hooking up with friends. It just makes it seem that if conditions were right they too could have been cheaters.
I laugh every story I read it!!!
Hid the camera BEHIND "whatever"
How will it get pictures of anything except what it's behind
I'm not sure if I buy the switching love between Lisa and Jane after the divorce, but it didn't make for too bad of a story. Seems the cheaters just kind of left town and disappeared, again not bad but seemed to be lacking in emotion, neither cheater got burned.
Many comments say the story was dry and unemotional. I have to agree, but don't also assume that "more emotion" means the husband should walk around throwing up, getting blasted, and sobbing uncontrollably for weeks on end. Nobody wants to see that.
Men should act like men and women like women. It's just that nobody seemed to care either way about the divorce. If even your characters don't care what happens to their marriage, then why should your readers? 4 stars.
Listless. Sounds like a documentary narrative. Not much in the way of emotions. Did the MC ever really love Lisa. Sure I can understand a divorce. Was a long time workplace affair with George. But MC was (almost) immediately indifferent to Lisa. Hmm.
There were two face to face confrontations the MC needed to have at some point after his wife had been served, but the author chose to omit them both. The story suffers substantially, and predictably, as a result. The "not that we have ever given them a moment of thought" line is ridiculous unless both the MC and Jane never loved their respective spouses or cared about their respective roommates and long term friends. It is human nature to be wounded by betrayal, to need some frame of reference to understand it and to achieve some type of closure for important relationships when they end.
Didn't feel a lot of anger or rage from the betrayal. And as mentioned below, no confrontation with either of the cheaters. No payback for his 'best friend' other than a divorce and I would have liked to see him share the cheating pictures of his wife with all her friends and family. They both got off way too easy IMO.
I gave this 3 stars. Just too blasé. No payback for the cheaters and too abrupt at the end. DMW aka Sumnut96
...and pretty well written. As noted by others, the story missed the opportunity to explore the post-reveal angst among the 4 primary actors and therefore seemed rushed at the end. Otherwise, quite original in a well developed arena of LW stories.
Keep 'em comin'!
Finally a decent story after a dozen that truly sucked ass. Don't know why people even read them but this one was done nicely, thank you! 5 BIG ASS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s. Following! Don't let us down now! lol
"they decided that they should see what they might have missed" - I could MAYBE see that once, but once they've seen what they missed, why continue?
"Lisa had filed a harassment grievance against George with their company's HR department."
...and?
You should have just left that (and possibly the part about her getting away from him) out, since it didn't add to the story all by itself and you clearly didn't feel like telling The Rest of the Story there.
I was entertained by this story and I really enjoyed it good job no great job 😁
Well done but just a four.
Several thoughts:
1. It would have helped to know how George who was hot for Lisa decided to marry Jane.
2. The author gives no hint why Jim chose the high maintenance beauty over the much more attractive person, Jane.
The confusion lessened the value of the story.
The ending was lackluster. I am glad that Jane and the MC had happiness together, but it all just felt rushed and fizzled. 3*
Kind of a lack luster ending. I mean Lisa just straight up said “whatever” and moved away. Like damn that’s cold haha
I agree with inka about not having a conversation as to why a spouse cheated as well as the only two reasons a writer would do so, mostly. Meaning that some stories, such as this one, are too short to really add the extra drama or to lengthen it by a paragraph or two. Some stories are too long without the added redundancy or the page long chapter where the guilty has to go to a counselor to realize why she's a skank. However, I do enjoy it when a cunt shows zero remorse in her responses during said conversation, after she's already made his life hell, especially if it's a btb story, where the dude rebuilds himself and his life, then fucks her world like it's a pocket pussy. May have to do with the under dog premise and her adding every bit she can to inevitably damn herself.
tbh i blame the shared honeymoon lol come on who does that. when i read that i thought for sure it was going to end up a foursome glad it didnt
- tons of men have sex with LITERAL whores. Or with women they aren't exclusive with. Or with one-night0-stands. It's not "cuckold tendencies", it's "a hole is a hole" attitude. There's nothing wrong with deciding to get free sex when offered, since it doesn't hurt the MC in any way. Yes, refusing sex may possibly sound dramatic, but ultimately - aside from STD concerns - pointless. The only one to suffer is the MC who goes without sex.
I'm with the last Anon comment. The fact that there was no "conversation" is a PLUS. There's absolutely zero reason to have one. The cheater would just give random, useless, self-serving lies, excuses and justifications, which have absolutely no positive upside for the main character to hear. The only reason to include such a conversation in a story is to either (a) punish the main character for whatever reason, or (b) to extend the story unnecessarily by using literally boilerplate standard trope excuses that don't differ from 1000s of other LW story excuses, or real life
The only useful/good/valid reason to have a "conversation" is in VERY VERY rare casewhere MC deconstructs the excuses and hopefully emotionally hurts the cheater in the process. But that's a vanishingly small minority of the stories (Jezzaz's "Words" is a good example of doing this right, with basically the entire story being "the conversation" : //rosa-blanca.ru/desixxxphoto/s/words-42)
Unlike other comments, I'm glad this had no "conversation". Just like there is nothing a cheater can possibly say about their actions, there is nothing a writer can do to make it interesting. Everything that comes out from a cheater's mouth would be a pointless excuse. And those convos serve no benefit to anyone but the cheater. It's a last attempt towards some shitty reconciliation that shouldn't be entertained. Or an attempt to finally come clean and confess, which again only benefits the guilty. Treating them like the stranger they chose to become is always the best attitude.
It was going well until the 'fuck her like a whore one last time trope". Any sane man in that situation wouldn't be able to even get it up from seer physical disgust. Since that wasn't the case with your MC, he should do a DNA test for the baby. It's obvious he has latent cuckold tendencies and women have a 6th sense about this shit. At least the ending was realistic. Those childless couples usually completely vanish from each other's life when the marriage dissolves.
Nitpic, because, it wasn't half the house, it was half the house savings, the account they set up to save for a house. Yes, I had to think about that for a second.
Aww... look at that little shy nerd George how he grew up to be a player! It brings a tear to my eye!
How can you get 50 percent of the house savings when you live in an apartment?.
The writing was to a high standard but, really, this was just a string of clichés.
The one bit I struggled with was the night she wanted sex. She'd just been told that George had an STI!
We know it wasn't true but she didn't.
A bit lame and sketchy, but well done and original otherwise. Thank you for the time and effort.
A story that has a husband with backbone and character...nice change from most of the cuck shit here. Fairy tale ending with Jane was a bit too neat and tidy, but every once and a while things work out nicely for decent folks! Thanks for the story.
Presumably, he and Lisa had more in common than her and George which was why George ended up with Jane.
Turns out Lisa and George had more in common - once you add "cheaters" to the list.
It lacked passion, but the tale earned five stars. I was thinking four stars, but went with five.
JPB NOT BOB
The conversation between spouses that follows the cheater becoming aware their adultery has been discovered is an essential part of an infidelity story. it is a major test of the author's skill in writing credible dialog. Emotions are high, and it is a challenge to convey them in an authentic manner. The commonly used trope of the "Cheater's Bible" has more to do with a lack of writing creativity than with mythical instinctual utterances by the unfaithful. CurrentParameter, you should have faith in your previously demonstrated literary skills. Please don't avoid the confrontation conversation when you revisit adultery in the future. Will truly look forward to your next submission.
Pretty sure that sleeping with the wife, when you know of the infidelity is condonation or something, so she could have asked for counseling.
With no discussion with Lisa or her viewpoint after being served, it loses a huge amount of "payback" to the reader.
Just underwhelming. She got served, moved away never to be seen again. Boring.
Just, "Hey, let's fuck and see if we like it." Reads like Martian Slut Ray, again. I know, writing about the inner feeling and passions and motives is difficult for some people to understand, and even more difficult to write about. So we get a great story about equipment and methods and revenge, and almost nothing about how these loyal loving spouses just turned into betraying unethical self-absorbed assholes. Yeah, who wants to understand that?
Someoneother I had to laugh when I saw your comment giving this author advice you should have given yourself.
Well, this one was dismal at best. Learn how to write a decent BTB if you want to survive in this genre. Do nothing wimpy MC's do not fare well here. Keep your rainbows and unicorns for ther categories.
The first half was good, but the ending lacked the real meat of the story.
The best part of a loving wives tale is the dramatic confrontation with the cheating wife.
The best part of any btb story is the wife suffering the consequences for her infidelity.
This needed some kind of conversation with LIsa and George (separately), where they both bitterly regret destroying their marriages and long-term friendships.
A well-executed short story without a lot of unnecessary drama.
Good grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
Awarded all five.
Well written, but the lack of any sorrow and anger by the mc was weird. He felt cardboard that way. Part of the problem with cheating is the emotional damage the cheater does to the cheated. I didn't see any of that here
No confrontation with his best friend? This is even less believable than the lack of interest in talking with his wife.
With so little interest by the MC in the whys, whats and wherefores, perhaps that explains why there isn't all that much interest in the story.
More or less, different item under bed, slight changes.
LOVE a slap-hapy-papy #9
No feedback from Lisa, having him be indifferent to way, makes this a 3 at best.
