Celeste beamed at her. "I'm also two months along, but only Shawn knows. So don't tip my hand."
Ami's smile blossomed and she hugged Celeste again. "You are the sister I never had. I love you, and I am happy for you."
She turned and found Shawn's hands. "You must be Shawn. I have heard so much about you. I am very pleased to meet you. You make Celeste very happy," she paused. "VERY HAPPY!"
Shawn blinked, and Celeste grinned while Ami smiled at him.
'Oh, GREAT!! Another psychic,' he thought.
Ami walked up to the shortest member of the group, and knelt down.
"Your mommy told me so much about you. I think I know you already. I am very happy to meet you."
Little Shawn looked at the stranger.
"My mommy told me you were a nice lady. You are. You are also very pretty. I'm very pleased to meet you." He stuck out his hand, but Ami grinned and wrapped him in a crushing hug, and kissed his cheek. He blushed.
Donald took it all in as his children surged forward and greeted their grandparents and cousin. He studied his sister's future husband and saw how she glowed around him. His noticed the decided change in his mother.
'Like she was human,' he thought to himself.
His father seemed to be in seventh heaven and constantly hugged his wife and touched her shoulder, her arm, and maybe her ass.
'WOW, dad, things sure have changed. And all this because of this guy and his son.'
And her husband dying in a car accident with his girlfriend.
'I guess my life is not the only one to change in the past twelve years.'
He returned his gaze to the tall young man standing next to his little sister. Well, he was younger then Donald was, by about eleven years. And he had been in the Marines. He stepped forward, and looked Shawn square in the eye.
"So you're Shawn," he asked with a neutral expression.
Shawn returned the look, and said, "Major. It's very good to meet you."
It had gotten very quiet, and Donald noticed that everyone was looking at the two of them. Young Donald waked over to his dad and looked up at Shawn.
"That's my dad," he said, looking somberly at Shawn. "He's a Green Beret. He saved our lives."
Young Shawn had joined them.
He looked at his cousin. That's MY dad," pointing to Shawn. "He's a Marine."
"I have a lot of friends who are Marines. They helped my dad protect us. He got shot, too."
"WOW!"said young Shawn. Suddenly, they were talking like they were old friends.
Donald looked down at them, and then looked up at his future brother-in-law. Shawn was grinning and chuckling. He looked at Donald, and sticking out his hand, said, "I hope them never have to go through that themselves."
Donald took his hand, and said, "You are a big step up from the asshole she was married to. You also seem to make her happy. Happier than I had seen her in a long time." His hook his hand.
"And unless I'm mistaken, she's going to a lot happier in about seven months."
Shawn looked at him.'THEY'RE ALL PSYCHIC.'
Donald laughed and said, "I'm got experience. Two here, and one on the way."
Shawn laughed and said,"Not bad for a Green Beanie!"
"You're o.k., .....for a Gyrene."
They degenerated into laughter and hugs.
Ami looked at Celeste and said, "I guess we'll keep them."
Celeste smiled. "Absolutely!!"
Thank you for Bearing with me. I really liked writing this. I can now get back to BTB and blood and guts. (And happy endings.)

Great concept, although the instant love connection was over the top. Love at first sight is fine, but the relationship was instantaneous instead of developed over time.
Really liked this story! Characters that I can relate to thus giving it real life.
It appears that we all love good stories with well developed characters and would great endings. Keep it up.

As an 83 year old Marine, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Good plot. Thank you and top rating, of course.
More of this Backer. You’re good at it. Just really good atory telling, and a story worth telling, with uplifting about outcomes. One diverse couple who are rock solid for each other throughout and thus deserve the very best of what life and each other have to offer. And, a couple whole first spouses were trash, and ended up in the trash where they belong with the two faithfuls hooking up in perfect symmetry in the end, as they should.
The abrupt change from 3rd to first person just after Donald saved the doctor was annoying. Don't do that. (I quit reading after that, so I don't know her name.) Also, keep the names the same. It was Shawn in the 1st chapter, Sean in the second, and back to Shawn in this one. Pay attention.
This story kept getting better by the chapter!

I see you have nearly mastered the movie script writting style. You just forgot to put 'NAME:' of person speaking in front of all those sentences.
This is a nice romantic story.
The constant changes between first and third person were disconcerting and thankfully seemed to end before the end of the story.
Well shit, that was great! A happy 5 for the entire series. I'm a bit behind on my LT56 reading, because I like to go in chronological order, and haven't been able to tackle "Product Liability Lawsuit" because it follows on a S56, and I just haven't found the time to read through, in chronological order, HIS epic linked stories. But since this one was a follow-on a series I'd already read, I figured it was OK to catch this volume 3. Glad I did. Loved it. And now, for some constructive criticism for this fine author. First point, and I'm assuming the author can have some control over this, is that there are a couple of screwups on his list of submissions. The "Perfect Crime" 7-part series is listed twice - the duplicate listing should be removed. And on "The Red Ledger" itself, the posted "The Red Ledger-Life Goes On" (whose listing appears below that of this Volume 3) is a duplicate of the original "The Red Ledger - Life, Such As It Is" and therefore should be pulled from the site. Another glitch, not on the list of submissions, is that in this story, "Shawn" occasionally becomes "Sean" - I mean, I knew who he was talking about, but this is something better proof-reading (with eyes, not software) would have caught. And finally, the continual shifts between first and third person narratives should be resolved in favor of one or the other. Or, if LT56 really feels the perspectives should remain as they are, then the shifts between first and third should be highlighted by something like "*************" between them. LT56 writes excellent stories, for the most part, and there's no reason why the technicalities shouldn't be on a consistent par with the inspiration.

Really liked the tie in from Houston to Ethiopia and back to Houston. Very interesting how the first two Red Ledger tales fit into this story. They are all good stories in and by themselves the three together bring a new dimension. Thank you for great tales. LP
Could not get past first page. He deploys to country and Thinks it is muslim. Why is army at the embassy? Green berets would deploy with local army. When did usa take over Ethiopia? That is only way they could deploy with weapons wherever they want. Boma harem is Nigerian org. Etc etc. Garbage
