Click hereIn the quiet hours, I stood alone,
convinced that my absence
would be a gift,
that they would find peace
in a life without me,
that I was a burden,
a failure,
the puzzle piece that never quite fit.
I thought of the security they would gain,
how my leaving would draw them closer,
how they would heal together,
without my weight
dragging them down.
I was ready to simply slip away,
to leave them with the pieces of my life
and hope they could build something better.
But then you found me,
in that dark, silent place.
You saw through the brokenness,
through the cracks that I thought defined me.
You didn’t turn away.
You stayed,
with words that wrapped around me,
gentle was your softest touch.
You knew the cracks were there,
even when I hid them from the world,
from everyone, even myself.
How you saw them, I do not know—
a gift, perhaps, born from your own pain,
your own struggles,
a gift that allows you to feel the hurt in others,
to heal what you can,
and in doing so, heal a part of you?
You told me about Kintsugi,
how something broken
can be mended with gold,
and in the mending,
it becomes more beautiful,
more precious
than it ever was before.
But with broken souls,
it isn’t just gold that mends—
it’s heaven’s gold,
applied by your loving hands,
the love that fills the cracks,
drawing us back together,
piece by piece.
Not perfect,
but whole,
with a new kind of beauty
I never thought I’d see.
You saved my life
when I couldn’t see its worth,
when I believed
I was nothing but a shadow
on the edge of existence.
Then you gave me back
to those I love,
to see they love me too,
cracked perhaps,
but not completely broken,
made anew by one who loved me
and never met me.
The forest for the trees
that I could not see,
from far away you saw me
with eyes that I will never see.
Now, I stand here,
not just alive,
but living,
because you showed me
that brokenness isn’t the end—
it’s a new beginning,
a chance to be something more.
No longer lost,
no longer alone,
I’m mended with heaven’s gold,
and I carry your love
as the bond that holds me together.
This is our story,
of darkness and light,
of despair and hope,
and the love that saved me
when I thought I was beyond saving.
One broken vase,
one healed soul at a time,
leaving the world a little better
than you found it.
This poem leaves me speechless and feeling so blessed to have your friendship and share your talent. Real poetry comes from the heart and speaks to the heart. You certainly spoke to mine. Very inspiring words that show that even on the darkest days there is a spirit that won’t be extinguished and with a little help a spark can be turned back to a flame. May your flame burn ever brighter xx
A beautiful restorative poem of self-healing and forgiveness.
Kintsugi is the perfect fit for your message.
Your poem has left our world a little better than you found it!
Thank you.
