"Don't thank me for that," she said. "I mean it. There's nothing to thank me for, and now that you've said what you wanted to say, I don't want to hear anything else. If you ever do something like this again, we're through. But now I'm ready to move forward and put it behind us. I'm looking to the years ahead with confidence."
"I'm happy you're giving me a second chance," he said, "but I'm not as confident as you are about the next few years. I wonder if I'll ever find out what happened."

Jake was waiting at the prison the next morning. Hillary approached him for a moment and they exchanged a few words, and then she went over to their lawyer and began talking to him.
Jake came over to Sterling, shook his hand, leaned close to him and then spoke softly into his ear.
"You've got some wife!"
"What do you mean?" asked Sterling.
"I mean she came up with the money."
"I know," Sterling said. "She told me I would be safe."
"She already took care of that," Jake said. "I mean she managed to borrow enough money so that --."
He stopped and leaned closer to Sterling and whispered into his ear.
"She literally saved your ass, if you know what I mean."
Jake straightened up again and gave him a wink before continuing.
"I don't know how much she told you about the hood in the prison you're going to. Did she tell you that he knew all about you and was already talking about what he was going to do to you? I was shocked when my snitches told me. I didn't think you'd even register on his radar until he saw you inside.
"Someone had told him all about your case and when you were reporting. I couldn't find out who or why.
"When I told Hillary about this guy and what he was saying, it didn't seem to shake her up, but it must have hit her this week. I think she took out a loan or something.
"What makes you say that?"
"I know how expensive your lawyer is. You probably ran out of money, because first she only gave me money for the safety plan. But last night she called and said something about how you've suffered enough and asked me to pay for the whole deal -- I mean, so nobody touches a hair on your head -- and her lawyer would reimburse me this afternoon. I took care of everything this morning."
"Thanks," said Sterling.
It was time for a few last words with Hillary before he had to walk through the gates. Sterling's mind was racing. He had been thinking about their conversation the night before and had some questions to ask her. His conversation with Jake added a few more.
But the questions could wait until she visited him. Since it was a minimum security facility, she could come several times a week. There was plenty of time for talking later.
He thought of what he should say to her. He had said everything already. He looked her in the eye and said, "I am so sorry about Kali. I wish I could think of a way to make up for what I did."
"Don't think about it," she said as she stroked his hand.
He couldn't let it go.
"You know, it didn't last long," he said. "It was really very short."
"Yes," she said with a sigh, "I know. Only two months and twenty-three days."

He got out of prison and after almost three months of brutal rape he figured out the truth.
He went home and slipped something in her drink. They were having a conversation at dinner and after she drank half of the doctored drink he said to her: "you know, i never did humiliate you or did something to deliberately do you harm emotional or otherwise. Yes i made a giant mistake but i stopped it and, eventually, came clean, my ultimate goal being your happiness and the happiness of the family."
"You never did confess what you did but sent me to that cruel punishment either way."
The moment he said that she got scared. Something was happening and her hands were feeling numb. She looked at the glass and yelled at him "No! You can't do that! I had to punish you for the hu..." After which she passed out on the floor from the drugs.
She woke up later, hog tied, with a rag in her mouth in what looked like a cargo plane.
"On the first day he told me you arranged for what happened to me and you made sure the worst of the worst would happen to me. Blackmailing him was not a good idea."
"Indeed it wasn't", said another voice she couldn't quite place. "My husband finally divorced me after my many trauma episodes. He finally said 'Kali, i can't take it any more, i'm leaving'. So you've destroyed two families and punished two people to an unjustifiable level."
"Now it's time for you to get your just deserts. We're on our way to India, in one of the remote mines with lots of slave labour. They need entertainment for the men and that's what you'll be. I imagine those unclean, uneducated, frustrated, diseased men will see you as one of those that profits from their suffering. Funnily enough, it's also what we told them."
Hillary started to panic and thrash about only to be shocked with cattle prods. They both laughed as they watched Hillary try to yell and just for fun continued to shock her over the next 5 minutes.
"It's time to pay the piper Hillary. We'll be landing soon, afterwards you'll be going by car until you reach the mine. Once you get there you'll be stripped and chained then the fun begins. Most people in your position only last about 2 years in there. So it's about the same as with your original sentence for me. The difference is that you won't be coming back. You won't see the children ever again, and once you're in the pit that will be the last you'll see of me."
Tears were streaming down her eyes, as she realised that her anger had finally got the better of her. She recoiled when thinking of the number of times she masturbated to the rapes of Kali and Sterling and the immense amount of joy she felt in those moments. Her next thought were to what was going to happen to her once she got there and sheer terror gripped her and she just froze, unable to move as the thoughts that ran through her head froze all her muscles. She knew that what was going to happen to her was going to be so much worse than what she did to them combined.
"You can thank him for arranging this. Did you know he actually wasn't gay? These days sex toys are so realistic one need not resort to gay sex. It disgusted him to do it but he knew you were watching and he made plans for this."
Hillary finally passed out as she realised the grave she dug for herself...

Plot twist: he never cheated. It was all a ploy to get her to confess all her shit by wearing a wire. Turns out she was cheating and plotting to humiliate and ruin him.
It just didn’t make any sense to me. It’s like he took all the configuration controls for Reality and changed them randomly, and this is the universe that came out.
weird tale with an ending I didn't find satisfying. needed a more of the fallout and possibly an arrest for the crime.
The REALLY scary part of this story is that he is still married to a sociopathic sadist.
Some of y’all just don’t get it. SHE stole the money. SHE got him thrown in jail. SHE is the one who made sure the sadistic prisoner knew all about him. SHE fully intended to rape and torture him for a week to ‘protect’ him from the consequences SHE had arranged for him in prison. You can argue he deserves it because he cheated, but this is not punishment to fit the crime. This is flat out sadism. The main character is probably better off being raped and tortured in prison than being at home with her.

5 stars because he never knew just how strong she was, until he went into the prison and found that she had paid enough for the "bad" git to leave him alone... and will then figure out that SHE wrote the "flaky subroutine" that deleted the money from the system, but not in reality !

There's ample documentation that captive prisoners dreaded being placed into the hands of women for their punishment; recorded data of their imaginative cruelty is almost universally available across cultures and continents.
This story ably demonstrates the innate understanding that men have of that fact--if updated to fit modern times and IT. "Hell hath no fury like woman scorned..."--and all that....

Nevertheless, this is an unforced error: "That bit of circumstantial evidence was what got the judge to find him guilty," That would never happen because you can't possibly get beyond a reasonable doubt on something that flimsy. Even if you had a psychotic judge, it would be overturned on appeal, especially because it was tried to a judge and a judge's verdict does get the deference that a jury's verdict would. Even with a jury verdict, though, it would be overturned.
Excellent BTB. The cheating husband earned his sentence; was just for a different "crime". The abusive comments about Hillary make me think that many readers are male and "expect" the women to be the villain. In the story, Sterling was the cheater and Hillary the "victim". Thus, Sterling was the one deserving of getting burned.
Ending wasn't as surprising as it could have been as it was well telegraphed. Call to Jake was just to make Sterling realize that she had changed her mind about having him raped before he made his confession.
A follow-up story might be entertaining.

This story was absolute shit lmao so because he cheated, she somehow hacked into all his company systems and got him arrested but then somehow was able to convince a judge to only give him the exact amount of time he cheated on her with. And he was going to have him raped in there? Sometimes you writers do overkill and it never makes any sense. This story was terrible

Was she smarter than him though? she gave up a job that paid far more than his, Seems to me if they had DINKed it for 3 or 4 years they would have had far more money to invest and turn into "more than enough for several life times" and they both could have retired and stayed home with the kids
Framing him and sending him to jail , informing a sadist he was coming to rape him, for a short term affair. To be fair , I've read worse btb stories told from the male point of revenge, but why would he want to go back to that. I meam, he came clean. Will she ?

Since he's supposedly brilliant he KNOWS she set him up. While he was in jail did she ever see the bullet that hit her between the eyes while he had a perfect alibi? A brilliant man not only figures out what she did and where the money is, but how to get the money and get rid of her. Another badly thought out, unfinished pile of garbage.

I didn’t care much for it. It was purposely convoluted and in my opinion that didn’t serve to make the story any better. It just made it more tedious. And yes, I “got” it, I just didn’t like it.
Certainly a 5 in my book. I loved her and hated her at the same time. I could see this work nicely if he was a latent bisexual, but as it is, it was the scare of a lifetime. Overboard, I don't think so, at least from her point of view.
One thing that stood out, was the belief that she was so much smarter than he was, that should have stuck out like a sore thumb. It should also be noted that he will forever remember how she manipulated him. That will not soon be forgotten, or how far she will go to get her results. That tells another story, doesn't it? Do a DNA check on the kids?
Usually with BTB they don't want to keep the spouse. She has it set up so that she'll get back a man very much like the one that she punished. He'll just be more beta, and he will be afraid of her. Until the day he dies. However, I'm sure she's taken this into account and is willing to accept a more submissive husband. We usually see this the other way around in BTB.
If you can so easily train yourself not to mind rape, maybe such training should be offered to women and sexual assault would go down. Rape is about power, and a victim who doesn't mind wouldn't be satisfying so why attack them? BTW, this paragraph is sarcasm.
Actually Hillary had found out Sterling's affair. In revenge, she wrote the code to steal the money, and framed Sterling up. She even had her affair with Jake, arranged Sterling's cellmate and his period of imprisonment.
That's why she was able to suddenly raise a large sum to buy Sterling's lucky ass from anal assault.

Turns out that he was in a car accident and was in a coma. A lucid clairvoyant coma...yeah. He never cheated, but she is actually cheating on Sterling with Jake. How did he know? Just wave the magic wand that made him a dumbass in part uno. He finds the code that is stealing money and where it's going to. Because of his connections, he gets info in who opened the account, and his wife goes to jail long time since they can't recover the money for a reduced sentence. She swears it was there. "She" had bought poppy fields in Afghanistan so gets fucked by anti terrorism and drug laws. He gets job back plus divorces her. After she serves her 35, he returns the money to the company anonymously. She finds out in a public library, then starts laughing funny and goes insane and twists her neck off and dies. He takes a shit on her chest. He buys property next to a highway and has the picture put up on a billboard. The end.
Saw the ending coming, but it was still good. Ha, I guess his last minute confession saved his ass, literally...
