I’m of Chinese descent born and raised in California. I’m also an attorney.
I’m in my mid-50s married to a wonderful white guy. We have 3 grown children.
My husband and I love reading stories in the Loving Wives category and have endless discussions over the various cheating wife stories.
I understand this is fiction, but good fiction must be believable. Its already hard enough to believe a happily married woman in her 40s with a great sex life with her husband will fall into bed with a handsome younger guy.
example:
1. A husband doesn’t go to prison for many years for a first time assault of the wife’s lover that he catches in bed with his wife It will be probation, a fine, and/or perhaps community service. Not 5 years of hard prison time.
2. Happily married wives (even unhappily married ones) don’t ask their husband’s permission to go on a sex date.
3. A married boss would never demand the husband of the wife he’s taking on a sex vacation give his blessing by threatening him. You want to cheat? Do it in secret. Why tip off and anger a husband?
But it’s still a fun read as we love experiencing the outrage of betrayal of the wife and how the husband gets his revenge. The greater the outrage the greater the payback must be.
70-75% of the stories here do a good job in telling a cheating story where the cheater (usually the wife) gets her comeuppance. There are a few exceptions though of well written stories that fail to deliver (“February Sucks” by George Anderson comes to mind). But despite a few unsatisfactory stories, most are great reads.
My favorite are the “Honey, We Need To Talk” stories. Totally unrealistic, but so enjoyable to read.
Bit my rule of a good burn story is the greater the outrage the greater the burn of the cheater.
